Stock 04 Navigation System

I have a 04 SL Max (3 months new now)and didnt opt for the Navigation system. Well, friends of the family just bought a new max as well and theirs has it. I regret not getting it now. Cant really tell you why i like it but other than that it may come in handy from time to time, it just looks damn cool! Anyway, i went down to the local Nissan dealer and asked them how much it would cost to upgrade my max to the stock navigation system. Well, he looked in his computer and said hmm its not available ala carte and of course he had no other info.
So im wondering how long if ever it will be before it would become availabe from Nissan. I know there are ones you can buy from other places but i really want a clean dash style look.

Well of course thats an option but it would hardly be worth the loss of $$ on a sale of just a 3 month old car. I like the navigation but, not that much!

saw some place where they were selling the navigation parts, antenna, screen, etc. But total came out to be like $2000 so i went getto, al least sorta of. I got a tungsten t3 ($400) and a TomTom Navigator for it ($200, $100 more for the wireless bluetooth version) and it works fine, just not as clean with 2 wires, one for antenna, and one for power, but the PDA does a lot more and you can use it for other stuff. The TomTom seems to be working well, came with North America map and points of intrest (resteraunts, movie thearter, gas station, etc.) and is pretty nice on the extra large color tungsten screen. It also does all if not most of the things the factory nav does, talks, gives speed, stats, 3d map, recalculates route if you take the wrong turn, etc. Only thing is you need to buy sd memory cards to store all the map info (only 13megs for dc and maryland area). Ill try to get some pics later after exams.

Hey that's pretty cool. I have a palm T3 also and I wanted to do something like that. Do you need a special kind of phone to connect the bluetooth?

Pretty certain the Nissan nav won't come out aftermarket. It also would of upgraded you to a 7" screen and made your CD into DVD. I really wanted it but wasn't worth the 2k. Plus i would of had to order my Max and would lose the on lot discounts i received.

Ditto here. 2620 rocks.

Have you done the update yet? It's a snap.

I was under the impression that the Navi played DVDs. Have you tried one?

There's a software upgrade at www.garmin.com. You download it, then use the included USB cable to upload it to your NAV's hard drive.
