Rebates and interest rates
Rebates and interest rates
The current $1000 rebate and 1.9% financing offers end on July 6. What is everyone's opinion about what might be offered after that for the rest of July? I am considering purchasing within the next couple of weeks, but am thinking of waiting until the new rebates/interest rates appear. What do you guys think?
which one are you looking at? So you made a choice? Thought you could get 4100 off? My rebate on 5/20 was $2200 w/ 1.9% even talked them down $700 more. A week or so later, the rebate was around $3500. But I know my car would of been gone anyway.
You have to find better than 1000. I had a list of invoice/dealer costs from www.edmunds.com that matched my dealers' (secret) numbers. I paid $200 over cost. I sure hope, with the 05s rolling soon, you can get below cost. This is the best itme of the year and offers are only getting better. Only way you can loose is if someone else buys the only one you want.

Oh, I am getting much better than $1000 off sticker. I just mean that the rebate from Nissan is $1000 more than what the dealer will sell the car for. I have 2 dealers that will sell the car for $250 UNDER invoice plus the rebate. I am just going to be sick if I buy on July 1st and get $1,000 then on July 7th they up it to $2000. I have given up on getting the VDC or traction control. There aren't any within a 400 mile range in my color that the dealer can trade with. So, if I leave off that option, there are about 15 with the other options that I want that she can trade for. So, no rush on someone buying the exact one that I want.
80 - By 'rebate', cpa is meaning the $1,000 rebate from Nissan. This has not been in effect very long, and is scheduled to end July 6th.
This is the first rebate I have seen on the '04 Maxima. It has nothing to do with the 'discount' the dealers typically offer. Dealer discounts began within a month or two after the intro in March of 2003.
Many ads in the Atlanta paper have been offering discounts of $5,000 off MSRP on the '04 Maxima since last November. With the advent of the $1,000 rebate, those same ads now proclaim $6,000 off MSRP.
I don't pay much attention to MSRP or discounts. I get the invoice price from Edmunds or Bluebook, subtract any applicable rebates, then subtract around $800 for 'holdback', and have a general idea of what the car actually cost the dealer. I always begin by emailing or faxing a detailed 'driveout' cash offer (including taxes, title, documentation fees, etc) to the fleet manager of the dealership. The final price we agree on is usually reasonably close to my offer.
I always pay cash up front, so the dealer makes no money from me in the financing area.
As to the initial post, I have no idea what Nissan plans to do with the rebate after July 6th, but with the '05s just around the corner, I would feel it will either be continued, or be resumed shortly. There is the chance it could be increased, but I haven't heard Nissan say what their plans are.

lightonthehill,
Yes, you are right on what I meant. Sounds like you are seeing some really great discounts down in Atlanta. Here in Ky/Tenn, the best that I've seen is around $4,000 off sticker. Which Atlanta dealership was running the ad for $6,000 off? I'll give them a call and see what they will do on the car that I'm looking for.
Thanks
