BE CAREFUL. If Nissan can prove you took your car on a track, your warranty could be invalidated.

How could they even do anything about it. After all it is your car, how can they decide how you use it.

they can't.... but that doesn't mean they have to pay for it. The warranty is for normal street use.

This is probably unlikely, but you could blow it up on the track.

I only mentioned the potential warranty issue because "AUTOWEEK" had an article on it in this week's issue:

Good article.

I can see the manufacturers point if someone is on the track every week.

The occasional romp down the 1/4 mile shouldn't get anyone into trouble ?

if you went to the track or you floored the car on an open highway for 15 seconds. whats the difference. it could take you 15 seconds to merge into traffic with the pedal to the rug. whats the difference.

IMO....If your "solo"-ing or on a road track and beat the crap out of it all day would be the difference. A few quick runs down the 1/4 wouldn't make a diffrerence.

I agree with you that there isn't much difference between being rough with it on the roads and highways vs a trip to the track.... However if they learn that you were on the track there is no way you could prove 100% that it was a one time real quick thing to see what the car could do.

I remember some of the VW guys used to take their plates off once they got to the parking lot the autocross was held in. They'd go so far as to mask off the VIN# on the windshield in case someone from VW was there.

It was rumored that VW was sending people out to track down "racers" at these events.
