Here is the info everyone wants on a 05 Max
to kill rumors, this came straight from nissan. Yes the 05 Max will be AWD. Those sons of *****es, i got this info last week and havent been able to sleep.
How would i know this? ans lies in the thread about what i do for a living![Smilie](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
One other thing i was told, 07 altima will be AWD as well. And Z is getting a makeover for 05, and skyline is getting legalized and making its way into US.

Interesting.
As of 2 PM Tuesday, July 20th, my dealer was still saying no big changes with the '05 Maxima. But then the dealers are probably not in the loop on things like this until Nissan is ready for the intro.
If this is true, I am surprised. This would be the biggest change Nissan has made the second model year of any of the six generations of Maximas. I was so sure the AWD would be part of either the '06 redo, or the 7th gen in '08.
Meanwhile, the '04s just keep coming. The 127,387th one (serial # 927387; Silver SE) arrived at Town Center Nissan in Kennesaw, GA last Friday.
Nissan said a year and a half ago they expected to build 80,000 '04 Maximas. Looks like they will miss their estimate by around fifty thousand. Where are all those posters who were predicting the demise of the Maxima all last summer?

from what i have noticed, sales have dropped for the max because of the altima. I remember when car first came out, couldnt keep them in stock, now every dealership has at least 30 of them on hand collecting dust. I have seen cars as old as 10/03 built date just looking for a new home on the lot. This is probably why nissan is making a drastic change to 05 max

joaquink - Stats are meaningless unless put in perspective.
The June '03 stats reflect the early surge of '04 Maxima sales. The '04 Maxima was the new and exciting thing in the marketplace at that time.
The June '04 stats reflect the fact the '04 Maxima has been out for 15 months, and most folks on the street either had ther new Maxima or were holding off to see if the '05 had any exciting new bells and whistles.
I would still say building 130K of a vehicle for which only 80K were planned has to be considered a success. And some of the older Maximas still on the lot are there because Nissan has been improving/correcting during the '04 model run, and folks naturally gravitate toward the newer ones.
Example: the dealer offered me an excellent price on a four speed SL. I chose the newer 5 speeed instead. Another example is folks desiring a 'smoke' or 'coral sand' have to look only at vehicles built within the last four or five months.
For a vehicle being taken to the near-luxury level (to be replaced in the 'volume' category by the Altima), with the intention of building fewer cars, the Maxima has certainly exceeded my expectations.

Previous Years were 115,000-130,000 or so, Nissan has to do something to get these 04's moving and this is coming from my dealers sales mgr.
The real test of selling power for this Gen will be how well the 05 does, to see if the #'s stay up.

an AWD max would make it too expensive.....no way nissan would do that......same with altima....3.5SL altima with Nav is 30,000 G's......Nissan usually adds a "big" option to a fully loaded car.....ie (elite pkg on the max).....so adding AWD to either car in terms of price....would not make sense.....remember when you buy a car it all comes down to price!! so looking at an AWD altima would be well over 30,000 G's.....and forget about a max AWD.....close to 40,000 G's or more.....hmmm i think nissan sells an AWD car for around that price range already........well maybe with a different bage on it!

Why by an 04 when the year is almost over.
