2004 maxima problems

Purchased my 2004 in April/03. I have had many problems including my rear window disentegrating while the car was just standing. Front leather seats have stretched. Front lights have been replaced several times. Since I have had the car, there is a grinding noise in the wheels. Have had it looked at and "fixed" on three occasions. The dealer has had my tires off and rotated 2 times and now I can't keep air in them noise still there and getting worse. Display screen has been clouding. Finally after three replacements and my telling them it is not sealed properly, a memo came from Nissan with a sealing kit. OK now.
I would be interested in hearing from anyone with similar problems and If so, what solutions were offered by Nissan/dealer.

Hmmmm, you wouldn't happen to be related to BadMax would you?

How weird a window just disintegrating like that. How come the lights needed replacing so many times? Haven't really heard any complaints about that.

Sorry, can't really help you. I haven't had any problems with mine and I haven't heard anyone else complain about any of your problems except for the display screen. Maybe you should be checking into the lemon law. Good luck!

You may have just set a new record for 'problems'. The Guiness Book people should be brought in on this one.

I notice this is your first post ... are you just shy?

Unless your engine or transmission disintegrated while the car was just standing, you really have nothing to complain about.

I agree with brightidea. I have replaced my screen three times and my new one still looks fogged up. Glove compartment was misaligned, I had to replace front right light, and my transmission grinds when I shift into second. I've had my car since May 2004.

Sounds like a thread in 02 alti.net. Some poor guy got a lemon I guess, I put 55,000 miles on my Alti in 2 years with not one problem. Oh, 1 burned out head light.

I had a rattle at 2k RPMs, got it fixed, now I have a rattle behind the glove compartment. The CD changer sucks in the cold. But other than that, no problems in 1 year and 15k miles.

The glove compartment is an easy fix. Search the forums for a fix posted by dfurlano. As for the transmission, it's a common problem for all 6 speed 6th gens.

Souljourner - what was the cause of that rattle? Was it outside the car (engine compartment)? I have one at ~1800 rpm that is driving me nuts. I've had it to the dealer 4 times and no luck...thanks in advance!

Those with the 6-speed manual tranny gear grinding problem, did you have your transmission replaced?

I read in the thread on the Maxima 2005 posted recently that Nissan has a revised 6-speed tranny for 2005, which is a 2004 running change. Any knows about this? Any idea at what VIN # they put the revised in the 2004?

I think this was done very quietly.

kMoney - I think it was the heat shield that people have talked about elsewhere (I got it fixed almost a year ago, so I don't remember exactly). Yes, it was in the engine compartment, and it may have been 1800 RPMs, come to think of it. Dealer should be able to fix it. Is there a heat shield TSB? If so, bring that in with you.

I have no idea why the lights needed changing so many times. Went to the dealer and had them changed under warranty. Been 1 week and both still working... Keeping my fingers crossed.

Interesting. The first 3 times they tightened up some heat shields to no avail. I brought in the official paperwork on the rattle TSB this last time which has to do with loose bolts on one of the exhaust down pipes. No luck. Then they give the car back to me without even checking to see if it helped. It was rattling loud as ever before I was even off the lot...

This next time will be the last. They're going to give me a loaner and keep it until it's fixed. I'm sick of driving around in a car I paid 34 grand for that sounds like it's falling apart

Just noticed you're from Toronto..........Are you talking about the DRLs ? If yes, the dealer had told me that there was some type of recall on the original DRLs. They changed mine under warranty acouple of months ago, but only had to do it once.
