2004 maxima problems
2004 maxima problems
Purchased my 2004 in April/03. I have had many problems including my rear window disentegrating while the car was just standing. Front leather seats have stretched. Front lights have been replaced several times. Since I have had the car, there is a grinding noise in the wheels. Have had it looked at and "fixed" on three occasions. The dealer has had my tires off and rotated 2 times and now I can't keep air in them noise still there and getting worse. Display screen has been clouding. Finally after three replacements and my telling them it is not sealed properly, a memo came from Nissan with a sealing kit. OK now.
I would be interested in hearing from anyone with similar problems and If so, what solutions were offered by Nissan/dealer.

Hmmmm, you wouldn't happen to be related to BadMax would you?
How weird a window just disintegrating like that. How come the lights needed replacing so many times? Haven't really heard any complaints about that.
Sorry, can't really help you. I haven't had any problems with mine and I haven't heard anyone else complain about any of your problems except for the display screen. Maybe you should be checking into the lemon law. Good luck!

Unless your engine or transmission disintegrated while the car was just standing, you really have nothing to complain about.
I agree with brightidea. I have replaced my screen three times and my new one still looks fogged up. Glove compartment was misaligned, I had to replace front right light, and my transmission grinds when I shift into second. I've had my car since May 2004.

Those with the 6-speed manual tranny gear grinding problem, did you have your transmission replaced?
I read in the thread on the Maxima 2005 posted recently that Nissan has a revised 6-speed tranny for 2005, which is a 2004 running change. Any knows about this? Any idea at what VIN # they put the revised in the 2004?
I think this was done very quietly.

kMoney - I think it was the heat shield that people have talked about elsewhere (I got it fixed almost a year ago, so I don't remember exactly). Yes, it was in the engine compartment, and it may have been 1800 RPMs, come to think of it. Dealer should be able to fix it. Is there a heat shield TSB? If so, bring that in with you.

This next time will be the last. They're going to give me a loaner and keep it until it's fixed. I'm sick of driving around in a car I paid 34 grand for that sounds like it's falling apart
