Which Intake?

Apparently my original Thread didn't go through, so I guess I'll repost the question:

Which Intake System should I install? I don't know which one is good, its MY first car. Injen? Stillen? Berk Tech?

On top of the poll, if you guys/gal can, lemme know why they are good and stuff. THANKS!

Can't tell you which intake to buy. I'm using Injen CAI on my 04' Maxima Automatic. I'm happy with my intake.

Happy with my Stillen as well, though I'd prefer an Apexi filter over a K&N. Maybe I'll look into the Berk. Injen sucks.

berk intake's louder than the stillen because of the mid-pipe and better air flow

Sound more or less stock unless you get on it or when you're just cruising aournd. It screams when you step on it.

They actually have a GD buy on the intake going on this month. They said it would be available on the website over the weekend. In the mean time check out the thread in Classified: Group deals.

Haven't some people had a problem with the injen one breaking? I think the support ripped off.

I havn't seen conclusive proof to confirm any of the above mentioned comments RE: power difference between intakes. If there is a difference, i'm not sure if it would be all that noticable while driving around. If you're concerned about running your car at the track and getting the best possible numbers in the 1/4 mile down to the split second differences in a controlled environment, it may make a difference. But other than that, i'd be willing to bet that you be happy with any of the above mentioned intakes on your car for everyday driving around. Hope this helps.

.....what's Berk's site to look at their product?

I'm also interested in purchasing a cold air intake for my car and at the present moment I'm leaning towards getting the Injen one simply because it seems to be the most popular choice within Maxima owners.

Someone mentioned about injen being a bit more expensive than Berk, but at the same time if that was the case why haven't I seen Maxima's (pictures on this site and cardomain) with them??

Just curious..

That keeping the intake dry issue is what led me to the Berk - I think that Coby does a better job with welds and finish than Stillen - here's a pic of my Berk...

I drove mine through major rainstorms/downpours without any issues. At fitrst i was scared to drive and stiopped when it started coming down hard. But i had to eventually go home

I opened the hood when i got home and there wasn't a drop of water anywhere near my intake.

Yeah having water get in shouldn't really be an issue. On my old car i had a ram air set up. I used to drive in the snow and rain all the time. Never any damage. I had a cover i was supposed to put on if it were to start raining but, after a while i got tired of doing this so i doubt this would be a problem, unless you drove thru a really deep puddle i really wouldn't have been worried.

Me too - was afraid to drive it in the rain - then got caught in a virtual downpour - and had no choice - the guy in the SUV behind me would have been p***ed if I had just stopped in the middle of the street while it rained - he would have gotten out and beat the c**p out of me!

When I got home, after wiping off the hood, opened and took a look - absolutely not a drop of rain in the engine bay - or any where close to the intake...Thank you CobyMoby - great job!

i got the Stillen high flow intake with berk mid-pipe. you want my advice? go with berk. you get more for your money. i bought the stillen for $200 and $60 for berk mid-pipe when i could have bought the berk intake for $160 with k&n and lil more for apexi filter. go with berk and don't regret spending so much money on an intake like me. talk to bryan aka cobymoby. he'll take care of you.

personally, i wouldn't go for injen cai just in case. i live in california, state that never rains(pretty much!). it was raining hard about a week ago flooding the streets. i never seen so much rain in cali and i lived here all my life. my max was almost 2 feet under and i was scared that my intake would suck up water. thank god it didn't cuz i saw some water spot on my intake piping. i would be riding my bicycle to work i had the injen cai installed.

I am told that the Stillen intake produces the most HP .... If you change your exhaust pipes so that there are no crimped pipes and possibly go with a free flow Cat you can crank an SE up to 300 hp! These are the figures I have so far:
Injen = 5- 6 HP, Stillen 17 hp and Berk I believe is somewhere around 8- 10 HP. I saw these figures on different web sites. Now personally I think these numbers don't mean much because that depends on where the intake is positioned and installed and the temp and humidity outside and even the height above sea level. I know that you can get the Berk or the Stillen CAI with the bleeder valve to prevent water from going in and the APEXI filter is the way to go. However some people say don't bother spending the extra $ for the bleeder valve with the Berk.

Basically go with the one that you like....Injen to impress the Coupe crowd, Berk for the sound crowd and Stillen for the Speed freak!

Oh heck WTF do I know?!

LOL

So i gues sthe Berk is the best as far as a decent gain in HP and the sound?
