how do we keep track of how many 2005 produced? Is it the same besides the 10th digit?

for 2004, the first one started in C800000,

does this mean Nissan already produced the 3,651 Maxima for 2005 per above VIN?

Note that the 10th digit denotes the model year (the '5' = 2005)

All 2004 models have a '4' in the 10th digit.

I would say yes, this is correct.

10th digit = year
11th digit = plant code (C = Smyrna)
Last 6 digits are the serial # and so far so good on the 6th gen Nissan starts counting each year at 800,000.

 

will be picking up an 05 next week. dealer is locating me one now. rough finding fully loaded less elite.

 

What are you going to do with the '04? "Carry around the twins"?

 

As others may be, I was a little surprised Nissan began the '05s with the same serial as they did the '04s - 800001.

The first '05 I saw (about two weeks ago) was serial 804242, which means, at around 7,000 units per month, and allowing a week for transportation, production of the '05s began somewhere around the 20th of July, give or take a few days.

If I had to guess, I would say the VIN serials for the '05s being produced this coming week are probably around 810000. Unless problems crop up, production normally runs full capacity for several months when a new model year is released; every dealer wants to stock up on the new model year.
