First Road Trip - Good News/Bad News
My wife and I took our first road trip in her new Maxima. We traveled from Grand Rapids, MI to Marquette, MI - 400 mi each way. First the good news: we got 28.5 MPH on the way up and 30mph on the way back. For 250 mile each way we had the trip pegged at 80 mph. The other 150 miles was in the upper 60's (country roads). That's far better than I expected for a car this big and with only 100 miles on it when we started! BTW - I calculated the mileage manually - the computer is about .8 mpg high.
Now for the bad news: the car shimmies over 60 mph and is the worst in the upper 70s. It's absolutely a shimmy as I only notice it on smooth roads and can feel it in the steering wheel and my seat - I coud see the pages on my wife's magazine vibrating in tune as well. I haven't been able to search this forum, but I seem to remember reading something about a fix for this. Is that true?
Also, the glove box sticks out on the right side. Seems like I read about a fix for that as well???
Any help will be appreciated - thanks.

Thanks for the information. I'll take the car into the dealer.
Has the shimmy TSB procedure worked for those of you that had it done? Also, I read on another post that Nissan was putting in a larger damper to fix the problem. Is that true? - I didn't see it on the TSB.
Thanks for the help.
This is a good site.

The results have apparently been inconsistent. The TSB has worked for some and not so well for others. I'm lucky to not have that issue so i don't have 1st hand experience. From what i've read there has been a few different fixes for the front end shimmy.
Good luck with yours.
