4-speed Auto Trans

Well It was running fine and had no problems until this weekend.
18,000 miles and I noticed the rpms were going at higher rpms before changing gears, then it happened..... it went to go into reverse and it did not want to go into reverse. Has this happened to anyone and what did nissan do to resolve it?
PS
The car is at the dealer and they are looking at it as I write this post, but I would like some feedback to see what was done to your car and or if the issue was resolved quick or was it a nightmare.

thanks in advance.......

Hummmm...that the 1st i read of a tranny going on an 04 Max. For what its worth, this happened to me on a previous car (GM). My car was fixed in 2 days and never had a problem again with the tranny. Hope that things go as smooth with yours.

Good luck with it.

Bob

My guess is that it needs a new valve body - something similar happened with my wife's '03 Altima SE - new valve body did the trick...

My transmision slipped, at least thats what it felt like and I also had the rpms go up for no reason occasionally. I took it to the dealer last weekend and they said since there is no error codes they cant do anything about it. I had a tranny go out on me in another car (altima) and thats excatly how the problems started, what sucks is that my warranty will expire in 4k miles.

Thats crazy they should at least take a look at your transmission oil and see if you have enough trans oil or if the oil is burnt (Brown looking). It should be a pink color.
As soon as I called my dealer, they replaced my whole transmission and o2 sensor
(over 8,000 in parts)( under warranty) with no questions asked. Your dealer is trying to get out of his obligations especially if you have a warranty

Well I got it back, yesterday from cental ave nissan, and I must say they did an excellent job on my car. They even fixed the shimmy problem and they washed and waxed my car! all this for no charge. Did not even pay for the deductable. They replaced the transmission, the 02 and the valve. Central ave nissan in Yonkers NY know how to take care of its people well.
