SECOND bad STRUT!!!!!

Hey guys I was wondering how you struts are doing? I had trouble with a bad drivers side strut about 3 months ago. I took it to my dealer and it was replaced. Everything was great the rattling noise stopped and the car handled perfectly. That was until about a week ago when the same symptoms ocured and I had the same problems from the past . I took the car to the dealer and they orderedanother strut. Obviously eith nissan is getting really crappy struts or their is something else causing this problem. Does anyone know if the Max has electronic suspension? Mabye their is a glith and the strut is blowing because of a problem. Also is anyone else having this problem. Let me know. Thanks guys!

Hold off replacing them. Nissan is redesigning new struts and should be out soon, like next two week i was told. I'm waiting too. I also heard there will be a recall on them too.

I think its just the fronts that are having the majority of the problems.

thast the sound i had like flicking your finger on an empty soda bottle. It really annoying and unsafe. Nissan also syays that the new struts will be used in the 2k5 maximas and theny send out to dealers for replacement. I am waiting to hear back from them.

At my job one of are 2004 Maximas with 15,000 miles had both front struts blown. Got sent to the dealer and took them a week to get the struts in to be replaced.

It will probably happen again because the new and improved redesigned strut hasn't come out yet. Once it does, you can then replace the strut with the new one. I'm waiting too.... I've been waiting since last year.

I took mine in a couple days ago for a bad front driver's side strut, misaligned glove box, and front passenger window leak. If possible, could you provide part #'s for the new struts when they come out? I pick the car up today, maybe I'll get lucky and it will have the new version... if not, the new part # would be helpful for future replacements.

I just dropped my car off at the dealer for my final warranty visit. My car has 35,785 on it so I had to get it in before 36,000. Anyways I told them about the cd player skippng in cold weather and start up. Also about the rear deck rattle and some other rattles in the doors. Told then about the rotors warping really bad and then I told him my struts werent doing to good. He knew the car was dropped but he said he would take a look at it and see what they can do. Also getting my trans oil changed for 81 bucks, I thought it cost more than that at the dealership? oh well, im wondering how many of these things they are going to actually fix.

Even though only my right one had blown, my dealer replaced both front ones.

I am sure this is a silly question... Has anyone replaced the struts with another brand? If so, did you still have the same problem?

The reason for the question above is: Is this problem just on Nissan Parts or is it a problem with the car causing the struts to go bad?

first, id prolly say that its the part....

however, the reason i doubt u will find many people fixing the PROBLEM with aftermarket parts is because almost everyones maxima is still under the factory warranty, therefore it would be stupid to pay out of pocket for a fix.

and as far as i know, there arent many, if any , aftermarket full suspension for the 6th gen out yet.

Agreed there. As long as it's under warranty, I'm gonna keep taking the car to get serviced. I can understand some other parts that are not offered by the dealer (intake) or wear & tear parts, but if they're going to replace it for free, I'm taking the freebie. What sucks is that most dealers don't have the new struts as of yet, so you end up with a band-aid until they do.

I think the guys over at active tuning had a set of koni front struts and rear shocks. The problem is that they're not cheap by any stretch... the shocks are "reasonable" at $230... the struts are anywhere from $300+ to almost $600, depending on whether you go for a straight swap or a core change.

I hope it is just the part not the car! I wonder if the shimmy is the car or a part, tire? I read someplace that a new set of Michellin tires solved that problem for someone else.

Just to be safe, I purchased a 72 month, 100K mile warranty with my 04 Max.
