XM cuts out

I been having a problem with my XM and it cutting out for no reason. It is not the area. I found that it just goes into a signal seach mode and it never comes back. I could drive for 30 mins and still nothing. What I found that fixes it is turning off the car and re-starting. That works all of the time, even in the same spot I "lost signal".

Any one have any ideas? Is it an antenna issue? or receiver issue?
I just hate going to the dealer unless I really have to.....

Please help....

Thanx.

Been there, done that. I had the same issue. It's the receiver. The receiver simply locks up, displays 'NO SIGNAL' and never comes back. I think there was a thread in here about it, if I'm not mistaken.

I bought mine from Grubbs originally and installed it myself. I found out later that there was a problem with some of the XM receivers (manufacturing defect). Sent mine back to Grubbs and got a replacement without a hitch (gotta commend those guys). All is well now. If yours was dealer/factory installed, I'd take it back and ask them about it. I'm pretty sure it should be common knowledge by now. I'll also try to find the info on the receivers in case you need some additional ammo for the stealership. :-)

it's the XM not the Maxima

I have a TL (04) w/ Xm and it's cutting out for brief time periods too.. I'm sure XM has some update regarding this on their web site.

I have right now a XM Rhody that does the same thing, just went on a long trip and it never looses a signal, great reception, but seems the thing gets hot and when you change the channel, it gets stuck in LOADING mode and you have to power it off to reset it after it is on for a while. I think the issue is hardware, not the reception.

I agree

It's gotta be the hardware. We just bought an 05 Maxima and it's doing EXACTLY the same thing you 'all described. It keeps locking up.
