Nissan xenon lamp parts all or nothing

I had to replace my entire xenon HID headlamp, simply because when road debris came up and scratched the lens. Nissan is all or nothing with this part and had to spend $850.00 for the complete assembly. if anyone is looking for a slightly scratched passenger side headlamp including bulbs etc I’m selling it on eBay to make up for my deductible.

damn that sucks. I guess Nissan isn't doing much to protect the headlight and foglight lenses. I have a cracked fog light lens I need to replace.

Just curious, if it's only slightly scratched, why would you bother replacing it -- especially at that cost? I mean, you're not going to repaint your hood when you get your first stone chip, right?

You're kidding, right? Scratches happen -- the original poster said he hit road debris -- not Nissan's problem. Please take a little personal responsibility.

Whoa:

This was an insurance clam... along with my bumper which was totaled. A huge truck in front of me hit a car hood that was on the side of the highway at night... it flipped up and hit my bumper and the light. So why wouldn't I get the light fixed too?

Out of 4 cars this is my first ever claim. I pay for insurance because I have to, and also because I want things fixed when they are broken or damaged.

When Nissan doesn’t offer these items as separate components it forces the insurance companies to pay more for nothing, thus is the reason why rates increase across the board on all of these new cars. These days... the parts have become increasingly more expensive to replace. You could replace the entire front clip of anything built in the late 80’s for the cost of this lamp assembly. All I needed was the lens… which anyone would want in the same situation.

The point of my post was to let people know that Nissan doesn't offer the individual parts, but one total assembly that is rather expensive.

Also to share my experience and to better inform those should they encounter the same situation… which is the point of this forum.

I wanted to let people know that should they loose a light and it's in worse condition than the scratches on the one I have... that it's for sale... for a lot less on eBay. You never know you may find yourself needing to pass a state inspection with a cracked headlamp, and my scratched assembly may save you a few hundred bucks.

My point isn't to blame anyone... this has nothing to do with responsibility... but rather to point out the cost of some of these components... the bumper cover was only 250.00. I simply think Nissan should consider selling the replacement lens and not just the all or nothing option.

Nissan is saving/ making money at our cost. It’s like getting a flat tire and having to buy the wheel and lug nuts to fix it- you do the math.

Damaged lenses are one of the most commonly damaged items on a car along with the bumper, and to be honest, the cost of the lens over the rest of the components is seriously disproportionate.

Yes sorry I don't have two, but if you want it, I have it posted on ebay. I had my friend here at work shoot it in the photo studio. I made sure he got the scratches.

In any event, the only problem I've had with mine is fog light bulbs which don't last.
