Skyview recall

I guess it is not voluntary anymore. I just got a letter from Nissan, saying to make an appt with dealer and take my car down to have my skyview inspected to see if it needs replacement.

Well of course its still voluntary. You don't HAVE to go in to get it done. Of course why would you not want it replaced if there are issues.

There should be a .pdf document around here that details the procedure to determine if your glass is defective.

I received a letter from Nissan telling me to make an appointment to have my skyview replaced. They will replace your skyview once you receive a letter from Nissan because when I took my car for inspection to a nissan dealership, they did not even bother to inspect it. They just told me that they don't have the parts yet and said they have not done any replacement of the skyview. It is not a rush since I've own my Car fir 13 months. I can wait, I believe nothing will happen to my skyview.

This is quite true. They will not take care of it on the spot because they have to first match your VIN to Nissan's database of cars requiring the replacement...then they order the parts. I called my dealer about 2 weeks ago...he matched my VIN and said the parts would take about 1 week...then we set the appt up. I just got it back a couple of days ago. They did a good job. They actually contracted the job out to a glass install company (best way to do it, IMO).

Just a few cautionary notes for those who have to get it done... You need to keep your windows "cracked" for the first 48 hrs, so that the air pressure from closing the doors doesn't break the new seal. Also, you're not suppose to wash your car for @ least the first 24 hrs... Rain? Don't know...if you have a carport/garage, I would suggest keeping it there for the first 24 hrs, just to play it safe...

I got mine done last week and Nissan said nothing about keeping the windows cracked!!! So far so good, but I've been gone and haven't driven my car in a week...
BTW my car was completely dead when I came back tonight, got to get it jumped in the morning...I'll do what I can figure it out after it get it powered back up.
