Yeah, most people that don't pay tax on their cars think I make it up...

This applies to everyone too... the only people exempt are veterans (or surviving spouses), or if you have a company car and the company's principal place of business is outside of CT (this actually made its way up to the Supreme Court last year -- Paul Dinto Electrical Contractors, Inc. v. Waterbury (266 Conn. 706 (2003)).
that's f'in sick man. I feel for you. I can hardly stomach how people get raped on property tax with houses/land alone. Cars too? "Buy your car in our state and you don't have to make 60 payments, but 80 payments!"

OK, so buy the car in MA, pay 1% less on sales tax too, and then you don't have to face this problem????

Good plan, at least on the tax thing... you could buy the car in CT before you move if you want... while you're a resident of MA they have to charge you MA tax. But when you officially move to CT (get your license and register the car) the DMV clock starts ticking. You *will* have to pay property tax on that car if it's registered in CT, so unless you keep your MA tags (which you won't be able to do), there's no escaping the long tax arm of The Man.

Did you consider the new Subaru Legacy GT Turbo? It is a good comparison to the BWM meaning All wheel drive and 250 HP. For the money if you are looking for AWD it is a nice car.

I would get it before BMW because of the lack of HP on the BMW. If you are in the BMW price range the new 2005 Audi A6 was completly redeigned and looks sweet. I do not have that kind of cash (38k). If I did I would go 2005 Audi A6 over the BMW.
