New NAV DVD version

I bought the new NAV DVD ver. 6.3 from Zenrin. I'm waiting for it to arrive. They have not yet updated their website with the updates. Does anyone have a list of updates in this new release that you can forward on.

thanks

The question?

Are the new upgraded disk in the '05s?

I had no idea the new discs cost $185. The salesmen told me you can get upgrade discs for about $35 but he was obviously trying to sell me a car. I guess I'll have to wait to upgrade. Thanks for the post.

I assumed that this would cost $50 at most, but I was wrong. Hell, my nav tells me to make U-turns where I clearly cannot. Lies Lies Lies! Why would I pay $185 for some machine to lie to me?

Rather than springing an extra $2000 for the navigation system, I purchased a navigation system for my Dell x50v PDA for under $200. Works great and I can take it with me from car to car or even for a walk!

Not many places to go in Rochelle so I doubt you would do that.

So is it easy to view the screen while driving? Does it need an antenna or does it work good inside the car? They make some units for the car for around $600 - $900, but your set up sounds temping.

The screen is a lot smaller (about half) than the 7" LCD screen with the $2000 version. There are vent mounts that will allow you to place the PDA where it can be easily seen. For right now I just set it by the E-brake and pick it up if I want to look at it. You can hear the voice commands fine when its setting by the e-brake. The satelite reception is good. I've never lost a GPS signal. My Gps uses the CF card slot and stick out of the PDA 1.5 inches. The $200 did not include the price of the Dell PDA which I already had before I bought the car.

Thanks for the inof. I am thinkg hard on that set up. I am also looking at the portable GPS units you set on the dash board, but you get the added benefit of having the PDA unit.

Navigation update DVD's?

Hey, I was wondering... I wasn't given the owner's manual with my car. And I am under the impression that there is a navigation manual that comes with the owners book. (Both books are on order for me any way.) So, I learned by playing around that I can edit an address book entry by looking up the phone number for a company. Pretty darn cool! But what happens when the company changes phone numbers or moves to a new location? Do I get new DVD's that have this info? Are they free? And where is the DVD located any way? Or is this data somehow beamed into my car and saved in some non-volitile memory?

First, the DVD Nav is a seperate drive located behind a removable cover on the lower stowage conpartment behind the shift **** on the center console. Flip the door up, pull out the cover, you will see a DVD drive like on a computer, has an ejection button. If you eject it, you can see the NAVI program disc. Pull it out and you can read the version printed on top of the DVD disc. Their is a newer version 6 out, depends on when you purchased your car. 2006 uses a version 7, not compatable with a 2004/2005. The software is not free, costs about $199.00 for and update from the older one.

Ahh cool! I've learned about another secret compartment!

So I have a pinkish DVD version 6.3 released 2004. I suppose you'll tell me that I'm out of date and that a $199 upgrade is in my future?

I guess this thread is dead but FYI navigation.com/nissan67 just released version 6.7 for the 04/05 Maxi's. But at 190$ its just a little ridiculous.

I bought it about 3 months back and it did update a lot of roads and hwys, especially around my area in MD and the DC, VA routes with all the new construction up there...
