Braking Shimmy

Hey folks, I've noticed pretty good wheel shimmy when braking (04 SE). Just had the tires replaced, but I don't think it's a tire problem.

Does this sound like a pad problem, I have 27K on it with the original pads?

No, the rotors are prone to warping. Its not uncommon. Usually the dealer will turn down the rotors once, and then replace them on the second complaint. All depending on the state of your warranty due to time/mileage.

Thanks, Can. I was taking it in for a burnt out fog light, guess I'll have them look at them as well.

Man I'm glad I got the dealer to throw in the 100k Gold Preferred when I got my baby, good to hear this is hopefully a warranty issue.

Well its a warranty issue up to a certain point. After that its a wear item, like tires, brake pads and wipers. I'd say offhand that you are beyond the warranty point for rotors. But if you have a good relationship with the dealer they may still slide the claim in.

Dropped it off after lunch, he said the same thing but he wanted to look at them before making a guess....Came back and told me they would do the rotors under warranty. Sweet.

You're fortunate. Usually, breaks and rotors are only covered for the first 12K miles as it falls under fit and finish. They must realize that the rotors have been prone to this problem and just want to fix it without making a big deal out of it.
