Greddy Exhaust on the 04/05 Max with auto

Hello all; This is my first Max. I converted from a 03 Altima 3.5. Can someone tell me how the 04/05 Max sounds with the Greddy SP2. I am interested in making the purchase if the sound is right. Magnaflow makes a muffler system (14830) that has dual tips like the Max but I don't know how it will sound on the Max. We all know the sound is different in the automatic verses the Manual. I have a auto but don't want the loud exhaust note. The deep authoritive not is what I want when I step on it. Anyone have a sound clip?

Thanks

No soundclip but the greddy is deep. I just installed mine a few days ago and I love it, I drive a 6 Speed though.

I have the Greddy's on my Auto MAX - I am STOKED with them. I have had them for at least 6 months and honestly LOVE the way my car sounds when I hit it. Very nice deep authoritative sound that shows you mean business. I also have the Stillen Hi_Flow Intake that helps with the sound as well. Best of luck to you!

Greddy Exhaust

Thanks for the replies; I just called Stillen and they will be releasing a dual muffler system simular to the system on the Altima. They claim and I say claim it has a deep mello tone. I had an 03 Altima and It did not sound that good on my Auto. A fellow Altima member from their site had the same exhaust on his but with a 5 speed manual and his had a great sound to it.

I asked a Stillen rep if it was Magnaflow's exhaust. He claimed Stillen made their own exhaust. That was not true because I bought a Stillen catback exhaust for my 03 Pathfinder LE and when I opened the box the muffler said Magnaflow clear as day. I was pissed to say the least after I paid three times as much as Magnaflow would have charged for the same muffler. False advertisement to say the least.

I bet they will claim just changing the mufflers will add 10 HP. I don't buy it though. The Greddy system is higher quality and I think I will take a chance and go with Greddy. The price range is at least a hundred dollars difference between the different sites I have visited. I have seen anything from $625 to $800 dollars. The shipping charges from California to Nothern VA is from 35 to $80. I did find a place in Maryland that is willing to sell for $640 before taxes which is the best deal I have found so far.

Thanks for the advise.

I decided to wait for CobyMoby (Berk Tech) and see what they do and cost is sure to be less than Stillen or Greddy...

Hey 3.5 Lover, what is the shop in Maryland called, and where I can reach them, that is willing to do 640 for the Greddy, because I am thinking about doing that for my auto max too.

You cant beat the quality of the greddy, or the sound. At first I wanted a dual tipped muffler but the greddy looks SOOOO nice on the maxima. Man if I could just find my digi I could post pics of all my new goodies.

Greddy sound

I just don't want the deep droning sound inside the cabin with the windows up. That is common and annoying in automatics. If someone could tell me that has the Greddy with an automatic if this is the case, it will help me make my decision.

3.5 Lover - There is NO deep droning sound in the cabin at all with the Greddy's. These are pretty quiet - but give a nice snarl when you start and when you hit over 4K. Then they REALLY open up and sound tight! Sounds like a true performance car with this setup.

hey man, the greddy sp2 is the way too go.
sounds awesome, especially with performance air intake.
i'm running mine with stillen high flow intake.
the overall quality, appearance and performance makes it definitely worth the money.
trust me, you won't be sorry.

.....any of these manufacturers release a quad exhaust system yet? Want the exahust system to look as close as stock as possible. I'm looking for a more stock look than a 'mod' look.

SPEED U. is overpriced. Try somewhere else if at all possible.

Its the best price I have seen in our area. In Northern Virginia they are talking with the shipping cost and installation. $900. I think that is crazy. I will wait until I can get a price in the $600 range for the exhaust and I can go to Midas and get them to install it for under a $100. That is reasonable.

Exhaust

I dont understand why the Max doesnt sound like the FX35/G35 Coupe/350Z. It has the same motor but the exhaust has a different tone. If mine had the G35 Coupe sound I would be satisfied.

hey, 3.5 Lover ... I don't understand that either, I mean I've done a lot of researches and asking a lot of people, I still can't find a way to change my Max to sound like FX35/G35 Coupe/350Z. I did change my stock resonator to the 350Z resonater, all it changed was the deeper tone, but it does not sound exact the same as 350Z/G35 Coupe.

The greddy sounds a lot like the 350z, my friends have told me that when I start it up, it osunds identicle. I heard the nissan rep testing my car after they replaced the strut and when he was cruising around the lot all I heard was a quiet deep note that sounded wonderful. Id say go for this exhaust, you wont be dissapointed.

Hey, Gluud ... thanks for your suggestions, but I was wondering If I can just leave my stock exhaust look or I know magnaflow makes quad exhaust system, and just mod on intakes or change the pipe to make it sound like 350Z. 'cuz I'm just not a big fan of those aftermarket exhausts look

The Magnaflow 14830 looks identical to stock with the dual tips. I think I will try those. Magnaflow has free shipping and the mufflers cost about $139 a piece. Throw in installation and you might pay about 380 total. That is half of what the Greddy costs and they have a lifetime warrantee. Nothing lasts a lifetime especially as fast as I trade in cars. I have dual Magnaflows on my Acura Legend but no reasonator. The exhaust is deep but a little annoying when driving slow. At highway speed (65 or higher) you cannot hear them at all. I don't want my Max to sound like a souped up Civic. A classy car must be all around classy in my book. If the Greddy SP2 had the same tips as the Stillen on the Altima (02 - 05) I would buy them hands down. Anyone with a close up shot of the Greddy SP2 from the rear.

Lover, my exhaust system is custom built, but it does use 2 #14830 MagnFlow mufflers. I picked those because they looked really close to the stock mufflers. It was important to me that the system looked as close to stock as possible. I don't like the look of the other after market systems that use the big, round cans with only one tip. The rear of the Maxima is designed for four tips and oval mufflers, the big round fart cans just don't fit the overall design.
Did you check out the other pix on my CarDomain site?

RedOpMax, I just checked your site, I have to say your car looks nice. By the way, how does your Maxima sound now ??? does it sound more like 350Z/G35 Coupe or sound more like American Muscle ??? and how much did it cost u to replace the exhaust system ???

04RedOpMax; I like your pics on Sounddomain. That is a huge reasonator you put on. I bet its quiet with that exhaust. I would like to get a sound clip of yours. Stillen is not helpful with news on the exhaust for the Max so it looks like I will have to go with someone else. Like you and many others say, I like the dual tips better than two large exhaust tips. I think 4" tips are too large for the back design. I want the stock look with the aftermarket sound but not too loud.

Yeah, the resonator is big (not as big as the stock one!) but it fits good. In the first configuration, there wasn't any resonator, just the two mufflers and it was LOUD. Next, I put on a small muffler (more like a stainless glass pack) and that helped but there was a much too loud "droning" sound between 2 and 3 thousand RPM. So I put in the "big can" and now it's perfect, with just a little rumble at idle. It starts to sing pretty good after 3500 and when the CAI kicks in it sounds SWEET!
I have no idea how it compares to a 350 Z or G35, because I have heard neither. As far as a sound clip, I don't have the equipment to record with, or the knowledge to upload it if I did.
