Car got hit last night :-(

I was at the mall for 10 minutes yesterdat echanging a shirt. I parked away from people, my own empty spot. 10 minutes later I come out, and theres this damn car next to mine on the passanger side, a busted dogde piece o crap. I am thinking "why do people park so damn close to me when they have the whole lot? jesus" So i look the car over like I always do, and then I started screaming. He clearly opend his door like a mad man right on my car. I saw my pain on his door. My molding that runs horizontally is chipped like the size of a quarter. And I have two dents in the door above and below the molding, that can be seen from an angle.

I am so heated, I hate people who dont care. All this when I wasnt even gonna go to the mall. I took his plate down, but what is that gonna do ya know?

I feel like Im driving a piece of crap right now. This adds to the dent on my hood with the cracked paint that I have had, that came from an oil change, another bs story...

Anyways, my old maxima had no problems with a**holes hitting it, why is my new baby getting reated poorly.

I just got back from vacation yesterday too, it would have been a perfect week last week for me to leave it at the body shop, now I gotta wait until I have free time. I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo heated.

I've had that happen before.
I parked my dad's Benz in the corner of a huge lot away from every other car. What do I see when I come out? A minivan parked right next to me...of all the spots to park!!!
I left a nice loogie and key mark on her car. Stupid, cruel, and immature, but i was only 16.

I honestly don't know what you can do as far compensation in a case like that. I would assume that you should have called the police right there to the spot.

I figured it would solve nothing. Some trash would come out, wouldnt admit to it, it would be some long *** battle that I would have to fight.... Its easier for me to pay the couple hundred I guess, and try and forget about it. I was gonna get the hood fixed after winter and thought about doing the door then too. but Im not sure I can wait.

Sorry to hear that bro. It's one of my fears now whenever I go out. I too park far away, but the parking lot theory (no matter how empty the lot is or how far away you park some d**k has to park next to you) is always in affect.

whenever i park way away from other cars, my own empty spot, and when i come out, i have always seen a crap car parked next to me when there are so many other spots available near the shop/mall.

i think unknowingly we with a brand new bling bling car , hit the ego of crap car drivers (saddist bast$$rds) and they park next to us , just to irritate us.

up recently, i stopped parking at isolated places, now i always park in a place with minimal interference, front and one side curb, and park as close as possible to the curb....

oh yeah, that's what i hear more and more. park next to another well kept car. I started doing that at my summer job because EVERYONE started parking in the back of the lot. even the worst POS's. guess they didn't want everyone seeing what they drive. so i would park to the left of the nice kept car. because even some hi-end owners don't appreciate their ish either. My buddy's 03 got a huge chunk in the bumper even though there is room for three lanes before the next wo. I still parked in the back because to many jealous people could easily walk by with their key "accidently" decorating my baby.

Ditto. I look for Benz, Bmr or Lexus and keep them to the right. parking out in no-man's -land is asking for it. The mentality of ignorance is an oxymoron. the ignorant will gravitate toward making someone else miserable.

Case in point, you are driving and start to watch a unique driver way up in front of you. You bet that their next move is to change lanes, without signaling. Even cahnge lanes and take an exit ramp, cutting off other drivers, endangering others. And you know what? they do exactly that, as though you read their mind. But we know that, they have no mind. Its an empty shell.

Soccer mom's on phones. Welfare bums. Disabled (PD=Poor Driver not physically disabled). And worst of all, are the idiots that sit and idle to get that 2nd spot nearest the entrance. They take up the whole aisle (so you blow your horn) just to get that spot. In the inefficiency of wasting time, they could have parked in # 25 spot and walked to the entrance.

Now you know what irritates me. For this, I drive another vehicle, a 9 year old, 4" lifted 4x4 and yes, immaturely, I have retaliated against asshats that are careless and ignorant. i do feel better...thank you.

Sucks. This is why I am glad I own used cars. I run into sh*t on the highway - like a ****ing bag full of cardboard one day at highway speeds - and then with people hitting your car and stuff...it would **** me off severely if I owned a new car. With a used one I just brush it off, for the most part. The roads in AL are littered with so much crap that it's simply not reasonable to expect to keep a car's paint in good condition.

when I go to the mall or the grocery store I tend to park far away and I always see someone parking next to me too when I come out (especially SUV's) . What's wrong with people these days?

Damn, I Feel Ur Guys Pain, I Parked My Car Right Outside My Barber Shop About 2 Weeks Ago. All Of A Sudden Im Readin A Mag Inside And I Run Outside Suddenly To Check On The Car . I Literally Catch A Woman Parallel Parking In Front Of My Car And She Dinged My Front Bumper Slowly With The Towing Mechanism That Sticks Out The Bak Of A Pathfinder. As Soon As It Happened I Screamed At Her For 2 Minutes Coz She Left A Small Ding On The Front Bumper Due To Her Extremely Aggressive " I Cannot Parallel Park Correctly" Tactics. I Screamed At Her So Hard That She Looked Like She Was About To Cry, Sad To Say It Didnt Make Me Feel Better At All. Although Im Glad I Was There Because If Not She Would Of Backed Into It 3 Or 4 More Times Tryin To Get It Right

Drive in NYC and you'll see for yourself what door dings are really about. I had a bastard get out of his cab, and slam his door into my passenger side door, and didn't even say sorry. Go figure.

I am surprised at you guys. Most of you should have realized long ago that most people don't see their cars as 'babies', but appliances. It's no different to them than a toaster or a refrigerator. They will:

1) Check the oil: When the oil light comes on.
2) Replace the battery: When they can't even jump start it anymore.
3) Wash it: When they can't get in without getting dirty.
4) Check their tire pressure: When they see sparks flying off their rim as they
obliviously drive down the road.
5) Etc., etc., etc.

How can we possibly be surprised when they are completely unaware of damage they are doing to our cars, when they have NO concept of the damage they are doing to their own.

Hmmm, I do the opposite. I always park on an end next to a curb and leave the empty spot on my left. I figure every car has a driver but they don't all have passengers.

It's a catch 22, you park close and you're taking a chance, you park far out and you have to worry about becoming a target. I have a couple stores that I go to that I've become familiar with where the employees park. I usually find an end spot and park over there because those cars never move and you're blending in instead of leaving yourself so open and noticable.

sorry to say but once you start getting hit, it's gonna happen again and again..... speaking from experience. it's just bad luck. my max has been in the body shop 5 times already. every time i get a new paint job on my hood or bumper, i keep gettting hit by foreign objects on the freeway. this happened last week. i got hit by a f**king flattened can on the freeway and left a lil ding with a 5 inch scratch, which i buffed out most of it( this is after getting a new paint job not even a week ago). my story goes on and on. why can't i drive my baby in peace?!?!?!?!

Same thing happened to me about 4 hours ago. I was sitting inside my car when I see this Buick SUV pull in next to me (I think its a Rendezvoux but im not sure). Anyway some guy gets out of the passengers side seat and sure enough hits my rear quarter panel leaving some of his paint on my car and a nice dent. My question is can anything even be legally done against people like this? I mean could I have called the cops and if I did would they have even come?? Stuff like this just pisses me off.

I have been very very fortunate to avoid any dings for many years. But there is a price; I don't shop at stores at which I would like to shop. I don't eat at restaurants at which I would like to eat. I don't see movies I would like to see. I don't stay at motels at which I would like to stay. I won't park anywhere I can't find an extra wide or protected space (gores on at least one side I can spill into).

Like others here, I park on the end, leaving as much room as possible between my car and the next space. I avoid clunkers as if my life depended on it. Given a choice, I try to park on the passenger side of a well-kept vehicle. In very desperate situations, I have actually parked on the grass rather than squeeze into a space I did not feel good about.

My feelings on this subject would fill a 500 page book. An example: About twenty years ago, I happened to be looking down at the company parking lot from my eighth floor office. I saw a man (who was a friend of mine) scrape the corner of a car while trying to park. Without leaving a note, he then drove to the other end of the lot and parked.

I immediately went down to the lot, got my friend's license number, and left a note with his name, office phone # (which I knew), license # and a description of what had happened, under the wiper blade of the damaged car. Even twenty years later, whenever I think of that friend, I think of his misdeed.

Paranoid about parking? You better darn well believe it!

Calling the cops would be ideal, but what can they really do? I don't condone this kind of behavior, but I have no qualms about discreetly keying a thank you message on their car .

I wish people would have more respect for other people's property - it just sucks. I just had a couple of dents (one my fault) fixed by dent wizards and it looks as good as new.

I, too, try to give myself some room by parking at least a few spaces away from everyone. Never fails because when I come back some POS is parked right near me. I'm convinced my car is a $hitbox magnet.

I'm reading these threads and I'm really getting heated. It's like when I see that d*** dent commercial where the red pontiac grand prix is parked in an empty parking lot and this old smokin a** clunker comes and parks right beside it even straddling the line. That type of s*** really happens because it happened to me. People just don't care.

and the ish happens more because of that commercial. let someone do it to me, they'll know I didn't appreciate the bs. let's start a class action suit against the company of the commercial.

Oh god, nothing scarier than an small woman on the phone 1.5" away from her steering wheel, casually piloting her LX470 thru all lanes of traffic. Losers that wait for a "close" parking spot annoy me. I enjoy the walk, and not parking next to everyone else. And lastly, I love your old truck beater idea. I have seriously contemplated getting some like an '84 Dodge Ram van or some old truck for cheap, and just using that or daily transportation. Something where I don't care so much for paint,or if someone dings me, or wants to f with me---ehh, who cares? So I gotta go to the junkyard now and buy a new door. or they rear-ended me, totalled their corolla, and now I need a new bumper. Esp here in metro detroit, there's no shortage of used american car parts. Hmm....that's got me thinking.....

Sometimes it's all just crappy luck imo....

Go to get a hair cut, park next to a Mercedes 500 S. While I'm in the chair I hear a ruccus in the place. There was a little old lady that was parking in front of the Mercedes, lost her bearings, thought she was pressing the brake, punched the gas and jumped the parking divider in front of her.....

I look outside and see that she has actually put the front bumper of her crappy camry ON THE HOOD of the mercedes and her wheels were spinning and she couldn't get it off.

My max was one spot next to the Mercedes and the spot in front of me was open. I felt lucky. I stuck around to see the Merceded guy come back to his car, I thought he was gonna cry....

I don't have people putting dings in my car b/c my friends are doing that when they exit my car. Everytime when I park, when they exit the damn car, they don't look. Bam! Oops! I'm like what the F**K! Even tho I have a beater, but it was painted from the previous owner. Looks good and stuff.

Now I have idiot friends to helps me put dings in my car and other cars to put scratch on my front and back bumpers.
