Tint question
Tint question
Can anyone please post what 5% tint in the rear and 35 % tint in the front would look like? PA state law is 35 % in the front. I got pulled over and ticketed in my old Maxima w/15% in front and 5% in the back
. I was just wondering what it would look like with a lighter tint up front. Thanks!

First, some window tint laws from state to state info:
http://www.iwfa.com/iwfa/Law_Chart/S...aw%20Chart.htm
I have pics of 35% drivers, passenger, and rear.
Will never go dark in the back as driving at night backing up was a nightmare. Could have went with metallic 35% tint, but being military, I move from state to state, base to base and was not wanting a ticket or having to scrape....so I just stuck with standard Luminar....I think that was the brand, 35%.
Hope this helps.

I personally have 15% Llumar tint on my '04. It's just dark enough where you can still see inside the front windows (since the 04 maxima lets in so much light through the windshield.) Given the back does look darker but that's expected. I'd really just go a little darker than legal limit. I can't see wasting money on tint if it's barely noticeable

Funny thing is, Mercedes and Lexus have some tint factory installed that seems to get by.
Again, depends on the local cops, actually give them a call, ask them how they feel about tint and what they suggest, will not hurt. What will hurt I can tell you is....forking out a few hundred bones for a nice tint job, cop pulls you over, ticket, pay to remove, retint....you know what I mean and the hastle of your car in the tint shop AGAIN.
Reason the cops do not like dark tint, and you have to agree with this in a way though:
Pull over someone at night, go up to the window, guy has tinted windows pulled up and shoots cop through the window.
Reason for some states having front plate laws:
Criminal commits crime, easier to take a licence plate number down if a car has front and rear plate.
Reason cops hate colored lights or ricer strobes or some aftermarket HIDs:
can be confused with emergency vehicle or the missaligned lights BLIND the hell out of people.
....I have 2 layers of 20% on my windows. Needless to say visibility through them is close to non-existent. If I put the rear shade thing up on the back I definately can't see nothing during the sunny Miami afternoon. All I see is like a silhoutte of the car in back of me. As far as night time is concerned, looking through the rear view mirror is useless because all I see are headlights. Everytime I back up I need someone in the car to get out the car or I need to use the side mirrors. Trying to see from the inside out, just wasting your time. Not even turning the inside lights make much of a difference. I love the privacy though, especially when people at red lights are trying to see if they can see insise the car. Once I get my baby from the body shop I'll post some pics of the tints so you can see what 2 layers of 20% offer.
Don't double layer if you live up north or in those state's where fall/winter is relentless. Your "defogger" (forgot the word at this time so bear with me) will barely work or won't work completely.

wow, i got 5% tint all around, and i'm from queens, ny
i had 5% tint on my old Dodge Stratus too, and being young around here driving i got stopped on average about twice a month. Every time i would get pulled over they would say " Don't you think these tints are too dark?" give me a look, but then they would completely dismiss it. Luckily i haven't gotten pulled over in the Maxima yet, but even when i had my Stratus one time I was pulled over by detectives, they said that the tints were way too dark and that i had to change them, but they never wrote me a ticket. I can't help it, i love the 5% tint. When it's bright in the daytime the sunlight doesn't kill me when it comes through the windows. At night when i'm stopped at the red light I don't have to worry about guys looking in at me or at my girl next to me. I feel at ease when i'm driving and it really compliments the smoke paint job . They look great after cleaning the windows too with sum Eagle one 20/20

i agree stack bundles with the dark tint. i am planning on doing a dark tint as well and since a lot of light comes in the the windshield i am going to do a very light tint in the windshield as well but dark enough to be efficient.

Remember, I am not telling you guys NOT TO DO IT....hell, it is your car, do what you want with it....but, do not think about posting "I got a ticket for my tint and now I am screwed.....I am out so much money" Or, "I was backing up and smashed into someone because my tint is too dark."
This it through personal experience, I had dark tint before...only once, learned ALOT from it. Hated rolling the windows down to backup at night, even bright backup bulbs would not help. Plus, just another thing to get pulled over or written up for. Cop sees you speeding a bit on the edge, thinks about ignoring it, than sees the dark tint....now he has more incentive....add some blue headlights, loud exhaust, neon, extra little things....hell, anything like that stuff is just an extra reason for pulling you over.
Again, not bagging on you guys, just wanted to explain my reasoning. Also, after being stationed in Tucson AZ, I know that tint is important, that is where I learned my double limo tint lesson.
