Has anyone put cams in their car yet?

I was talking to the dealer the other day when I was geting my strut fixed and the only mod worth anything for decent power other than a supercharger which know one offers yet is cams. I know Its about 800 for the cams and 1200 for the install but what about gains? they say something like 30- 35 hp which would be great!! All I know is I'm not gettting exhaust becasue it sounds good or intake becasue it makes a bunch of noise, I've been there do that with a fully built turbo vr6. I just want a liitle extra boost (and no NOS) Not saying the max isn't quick I just it quicker but still stock looking. Anyone with any info, please help

This may be a dumb question, but why would you do that to a brand new car? And not taking anything away from modding a Maxima, if your plan was to do something like this to your car, why would you not have chosen a different platform to begin with than the Maxima?

Touchy, touchy! OK, I have not heard of anybody putting aftermarket cams in a new Max. But here is an article showing them being installed in a Altima with a VQ35 motor:

Do you forgive me now?

Once headers are made, they should give gains around what the cams give. The y-pipe will give gains, but the headers will give more once they are released. There was a thread in the 5 gen forum where some one did a dyno with y-pipe then with headers and the gains are very significant because someone mentioned that the 3.5 engines still use the same exhaust manifold as the vq30de engines.

Just because its a brand new car does not mean much since my dealer will warrenty the work because I'm going to be using Nismo Cams. And they also have a software upgrade to boost timing. Which they can do at the dealer through the computer. I understand headers will open the flow up better and allow more horsepower to be reached but what about both hmmmm....

Will the Nismo cams still pass smog? I wonder if they're legal here in Cali.

Headers are almost always an instant fail at smog checks around here.
