AWD option needed

As we all mature,we start to think of safety, afterall we now have families and loved ones to consider ,because as much as we love our cars our families safety comes first and the multitude of us that use our cars year round even in the horrible winters we sometimes experience ,AWD would be a great option for one of Nissans big sedans and I personally think the Maxima would be a great candidate ,we all can`t afford the BMW or Mercedes with AWD option and it seems all the manufatures seem to be headed in that direction so what is nissan waiting for ,the Infiniti and Nissan brands appeal to a different demographic and I don`t see an AWD Maxima taking away sales from the G35x,not everyone wants to buy an SUV to have the safety of AWD.

Well the G35X is not an SUV its a 4 door sedan just like the Maxima, so indeed if Maxima had AWD it would get cross shopped with the G35X. Similiar price, same mission (AWD) just in 2 slightly different sizes, same mfg, different badge! The SUV's of Infiniti are the FX35/45.

I agree. With the Acura RL coming out with awd and 300hp, Nissan needs to offer something to counter. The G series is too small I think. If Nissan offered a large Maxima sized sedan in AWD and badged it as an Infiniti, that would work great. Would have to price it lower than the M45 though. They can use the Murano/FX platforms

Maybe Infiniti will offer the new upcoming M45 with AWD to compete with the RL, the are comparables in price and mission, albeit he M45 a bit sportier. from what I heard Nissan itself has no plans for an AWD vehicle in its lineup.

Right now the G35 is getting cross shopped with the Maxima....I agree with that. A little bit different style to it and interior....the AWD is a NICE option.....di I think EVENTUALLY the Maxima will have AWD, yep, maybe in a few years.

Would I like AWD, you bet, the Max has some decent power, enough to rip the wheel to the side out of your hands if you hammer it....sometimes it to me, can be dangerous if you are not gripping the wheel....anyone else know what I mean, you have to pull out quick in traffic, that FWD really feels the power and the wheel YANKS to the side. AWD would really help this. Would love to see the Max have that. Personally, if I had a choice, would rather the Maxima be RWD than FWD....and over both of them....AWD, just a matter of personal taste.

Nissan will come up with AWD if and only if, Honda/Toyota shows up with any.

Infinity (Nissan) already has it on the G35X....time will tell if it trickles down to the Maxima....I imagine next year model, or after that....AWD Option. Just my 2 cents. They will see how the G35X does with the option, than go from there.

Gotta love Subaru though....they have some nice AWD.

When Nissan called me, I asked about the AWD. the guy agreed that would be great, but there are no plans at all for Nissan AWD vehichles. Said it would be too hard for the engineers to design it and keep cost down.

The Max is basically the FWD of the G. Nissan figures if you want the RWD or AWD, step up to Infinity.

Personally, I'm fine with FWD because AWD would sky-rocket the weight and diminish the MPG.

Tourqe steer is fun!

I just said that comparing Nissan to Honda/Toyota and Infiniti to Lexus/Acura.

Othe words, Nissan would be pressurized to come up with AWD, only if Accord/Camry has AWD..

Sorry for the confusion...

Well technically, Nissan has the Murano. I guess it's considered a SUV but in all puposes, it's an AWD wagon. Could easily be made into a sedan of some sort. It's already on a G series chassis.

The Murano is based off the FWD Maxima/Altima Chasis, the FX35/45 is based of the RWD G35 chasis.

is chasis and platform the same? I know the Murano shares the same platform (A34) as the Max and alti.
