Question
Why is it that the Sentra and Altima get 2 choices for engines, and the 350Zs and Maximas only get the choice of a V6? Will Nissan ever splurge for a V8 like in the Q or M45 Infinity as a possible second choice engine? Come on, wouldn't it be cool to drive a 4.5 SE/SL or a 450Z? (Just a thought)

what if it were RWD or AWD? would that change your outlook? Also, what if the Z had a slightly bigger engine bay to fit it, wouldn't you prefer the extra torque and horsepower?

I didn't address the cost concern...perhaps this could be like the M/Q45 of Nissan's lineup and maybe only more wealthy people could get it (or those who'd go the extra few grand for the power)...again, it's just a thought

NismoMax80 said it pretty well.
Nissan makes the FWD passenger cars, while Infiniti makes the RWD ones.
Sentra and Altima have engine choices because they are the cars for the masses, many of whom aren't interested in a powerful engine.
The Nissan V6 engine in the Maxima can be tuned to spin the front wheels already. A V8 would do little but waste rubber and fuel, as well as reduce agility. The new Maxima is neither designed nor intended to be a race car; it is now a near-luxury family vehicle.
As to the 350Z, it is a 'sports' car, with flexibility, agility and all the characteristics of a sports car. A V8 reduces the flexibility, agility, fuel mileage, etc, and turns the car into a heavy 'straight-ahead' muscle car. Not at all what the 350Z is supposed to be about.
