Hard-Shifting when cold TSB

For anybody that has an 04 that was built before Nov. 2003 and experiences any shifting problems whatsoever, have this TSB performed. I had it done yesterday and my car is completely different. The shifting is now seemless and all of the hard up-shifts are gone.

how did you get them to do it? lol

It's just an ECU reprogram right?

Could you guys explain this problem? I have a 2004 SL built in June 2004 and the car generally shifts smoothly. However, on occasion, the car needlessly downshifts (no load or acceleration or maybe very slight) This is when the car is warm so I assume not the same problem you're talking about? If not, is this charcteristric of the Max, or should I be bringing it back to the dealer?

BTW The car has about 5K on it and no shimmy yet but I'm keeping an eye on that too

This is normal for the trans to downshift etc.....

I brought my car in for this TSB and they said my car didn't apply to the TSB. Plus they couldn't "duplicate the problem". It still upshifts kind of hard and I just found a new scratch on my door panel (on the brushed aluminum part) and I'm not happy.

I printed out the TSB and handed it to the service manager. He had a shocked look on his face but I was actually able to watch (through the service window) as the mechanic performed the reprogram. It is an ECU reprogram but the guy also said something about reprogramming the transmission or something to that affect.

I experienced a lot of crazy shifting. A lot of times the shifting was hard or just off even when the car was not cold. Knock on wood, so far it seems 110% better.

Now i am off to the Goodyear shop to try and get rid of the POS tires they put on the max. The road noise is unbearable and unacceptable for a $250 tire.

Can you post a link to the TSB you're referencing?

It doesn`t apply to the 6 sp m/t although it is stiff on a real cold morning.
The normal warm up makes it slick again.

My '04SE Auto shifts so rough when cold (not driving for 4-5 hours or overnight). But it's was made in 04/2004 so the TSB doesnot apply. I've been waiting for them to extend the TSB coverage. It should have the latest firmwares already, isn't it ???
It's so rough that I'm embarassed to drive hard when my bro-in-law is in-town. He's a hardcore Honda fan and won't wait to trash other makes. The shifting is much better after 10 minutes. I live in CA, so it's not that cold.
