Comments/Questions About Fuses

The other day I accidentally blew my 2004 front power outlet fuse. This made me notice the labelling on the fuse door (driver's left leg area), while replacing it.

The front passenger area power outlet (on the right side of the dash) is labelled as the Cigarette Lighter. Yet, there is also a FR Power Outlet fuse and RR Power Outlet fuse. Which ones are these? Was this already in place, with Nissan knowing they would add a third power outlet in the 2005 model?

The "Battery Saver" fuse - what is that for??

The "Subwoofer" fuse - what is that??

I'm sure that you know that there is a power outlet buried below the center armrest storage console! Accessed by removing the plastic bin. There is a hole for the power wire to your cell phone to route through the bin.

Yeah... that's one of the most poorly designed things.... who's going to keep their cellphone in the center armrest where they can't hear it ring? Seems silly to me.

If you look closely enough you will see there is a gap in the front of the arm rest to allow for the cable to come out so that you can leave your phone in the cup holder to charge.

I thought is was well designed. The tray inside leaves room for the charger. I recently went on a trip and was using all three outlets at the same time, they were handy.

Yep - I know about the center console outlet and use it often. I too think it was well designed, because I can hide the charger and bring the cord out to my cell phone.

Still, this doesn't answer my questions.

So, if "Cigarette Lighter" is the one on the passenger foot well area, and I presume the "FR Power Outlet" one is the center console, what is the "RR Power Outlet" fuse for? Might this be one in the center console the 4-seater has? (I have the 5 seater so I wouldn't know). Then what extra one does the 2005 model have?

Also, again, what is the "Battery Saver" fuse for?? "Subwoofer" fuse??

Not a big deal - just curious more than anything.

Yes the 4-seat model does have a power outlet inside the center console but the cup holders are removeable for access to storage underneath.

Thanks Bytemonger - I LOVE the 4 seater...thought a burnt orange with orange leather interior would be the nicest model of any 6th gen. I think those will be a real collector vehicle.

But with a family and roadtrips, just couldn't bring myself to buy one.

Do you have any pics of yours?

Well, bytemonger, pretty much clarified the "RR Outlet" inquiry... The "subwoofer fuse" is self-explanatory...it's for the two 8" subs in the rear deck. As you may or may not know, high-power handling subs always have fuses for protection...just in case there is a power flux or surge, so that there is no damage done to the sub itself... As for the "Battery Saver" fuse...I believe this has something to do w/ the interior lights when you leave your doors open for a long time or leave your interior lights on accidentally...after a set period of time, the lights will cut off to save your battery... I'm not sure, but I think the headlights do the same if you leave them "on" accidentally--(not referring to "auto" mode)... This probably has a fuse attached to it as well...

Thanks Hofb - that clears up the subwoofer one...I didn't know they were fused. I thought it would be to add an aftermarket one somewhere.

It doesn't make sense to me a fuse would blow if you left the door open or lights. This must be for something else.

Well, I'm making an educated guess about the battery saver...BUT, in all actuality, EVERYTHING that has power running to it in the car is fused. If you look closely @ the fuse labels (or relays) under the hood, practically everything electrical in your car is fused...somehow, some way... So it's safe to say that that is what it's for... Anyone, anyone?
