Break-In Schedule
Hello everyone....I'm new to the site, as I just became the proud owner of a 2005 Majestic Blue 3.5 SL. I was just wondering about how closely you should follow the break-in schedule. I have never been very good with keeping my speed down and I have had the Max in a couple of 4000+ RPM situations already. I'm just curious as to what kinds of problems this might cause.

I happened upon an older thread that had some conversation about this topic....it was about 1/2 and 1/2 on following the schedule. A little racing here and there shouldnt hurt I wouldnt think as long as the majority of the time I'm "babying" the car.

I feel your pain Tek-Niq. Though I just hit 1200 and got on it a little. What a nice response and power I love it!
I am going to change the oil in the next couple of days and I am switching from that puny crap filter to the 9E000. Will give a report.

I'm just about to hit 450 and I've had mine floored twice, once while racing a camaro off the line and once while at speed racing a dodge ram. So far nothing seems to be wrong with the car. I usually dont run it very hard, but I do drive a bit faster than I should.

I personally believe that cars are overengineered so that the break in period isnt nearly as critical as it once was. I think that changing oil regularly every 3,000 miles and using synthetic oil or top grade non-synthetic will keep the block good for 250K+ miles. Romping on it a few times in the break in period will unlikely cause damage.

I'm honestly shooting for 1/2 a million easy.
that will come to about $750 a year for the purchase price
