Tire Pressure
Tire Pressure
I just have one question. Actually, I posted this already but I just wanna ask anybody who is not busy right now (
) will it damage my RIMS if ever I drive my car with less air pressure on the tires? Like around 24-25 psi? Because that's what it read in the gauge yesterday morning (a very cold morning with temps at below 30's) and I drove the car for over 600 miles the past 3-4 days. (The temps during those 3-4 days was b/w 28 - 45 deg).
Thank u very much for your answer and for your time. I really appreciate it!

If you drive with the tire pressure lower you increase the change of bottoming out the tire on the rim which can indeed cause damage. Run the tires at the specified PSI unless the 25 PSI is a temporary thing (under 5 miles). You will wear out your tires faster too running them at 25 PSI!!!

My opinion, check on the sidewall of the tire for the Max tire pressure though as brands do very, pressure, over inflate or under inflate can cause tread wear problems. Actually, the owners manual will give you all the tire specs you need...if I remember, you can open up the center console and I think unless I ripped the sticker off, it said everything you need.

thanks!

Do NOT fill your tires to the max number on the side of the tire.

and is it ok to over fill the tires when filling, then just take out the excess?
Thanks

Make sure you have a good tire guage. Check the tire pressure in the AM. Note each tire. Drive to station and add air appropriatly. ie say if the front right has 30psi in it, you need to add 3 psi to what ever the reading is when you get to the station.

[Joe, is this your first car ever? or maybe just the first one you cared about?]
...once gas pump stops, do not fill it anymore...
...when it reads "E" you actually have 4 gallons left, but should get gas as soon as convienent...
...best to use premium, but if feeling the need to save $, stick with the mid-grade. Do Not Switch back and forth...
...leave the A/C on even in the winter, just increase temp...
...do not turn HIDs on/off excessively...
...warm car by driving under 2k RPM until temp needle is at the middle...
...when others flash you, your lights are fine, they're just jealous of our pretty HIDs...
...Love your car, it deserves it...

And to be really stupidly honest? I don't know much about cars! I know a whole lot about the human body and all it's parts (cos I'm a physical therapist) but not a car! So that's why I know I sound like an idiot when I asked all those questions on the forum. But I hope you guys won't mind...do you?

thanks a lot!

I have cruised at 100 with the tach at 3k.5mph? that's less than 1k for me.
well what I do is wait till the "needle" in the engine temp go up just a little bit (usually in 2 minutes) then start running at abt 2k rpm. Mine also goes to abt 1200 rpm when I start it esp during this cold season.
