Crackling noise

It's getting colder and colder in NY. For the past few weeks I have noticed this strange crackling noise every time I turn the heat on in the car. I also hear the same crackeling noise when I change the flow of the heat from feet to front and feet ect. Any1 else also noticed this prob also? if so has it been fixed?

Yea, I think it's just the plastic warming up. Gotten so I don't notice it much but I do think that your ears are in tune with what's happening.

Is the crackling near the surface of the plastic vents or does it sound more burried? I think what you might be hearing is the mode door and the air flow door adjusting itself as everything warms up and/or as you change between blower modes. It sounds like a crunching ticking sound. Turn off the ac and then go slowly between 60-90 degrees. You will hear the doors adjusting themselves for the temp. I too have heard this several times. It's normal. I hope this helps
