New To Maxima.Org...Need Information!!!!

Hello All!

New to the Maxima.org. Had a fully modded 02' VW Passat GLX 5-speed and it was totaled. So I bought a 05' Nissan Maxima 3.5 SE fully loaded! Have a few questions as I only have 23 miles and I'm ready for modding!

What is a good recommendation for a air intake system. I've heard of Stillen and Berk Technology...and recommendations on which is better? Second, where can I get a good deal on a Trentz grill for my 05'? Third, where is a good place to get bulbs to replace the interior bulbs of the car...I want to put a blue'ish, but a little brighter lighting inside? I've heard there are LED bulbs that can be used. Fourth...any other recommended mods for interior, exterior, performance, etc.

Thanks all...and looks like this forum is pretty awesome!!!

Jimbo, first off welcome to the club. I just replaced my Stillen intake with the Berk. I recommend going with the Berk. The Stillen is made better in my opinion, but I think the Apexi filter is superior to the K&N. Also the Berk midpipe is a nice addition, which the Stillen doesn't have. As for the interior lights, I switch all my dome bulbs (T6) with PIAA Extreme White bulbs. The lights by the feet are 168 bulbs and I replaced these with PIAA Extreme Whites as well. The interior lights make a huge difference for the car. I purchased these bulbs at ttstuff.com The link for the bulb page is here: http://www.ttstuff.com/performance_electric.php. I've tried the LED and the PIAA bulbs are far superior. I recommend upgrading the stock fogs (H3) as well especially if you have HIDs. I've tried both the PIAA Super Plasma and the Ion Crystal bulbs. I prefer the Ion Crystal because it really helps the visibility, though I like the look of the Super Plasmas better because it matches the white of the stock HIDs. While you're at it you might as well switch the cornering bulbs (1157) to Extreme White to match. These bulbs can be bought from the link above or you could try ebay. Hope all this helps. Enjoy your Max. If it happens to be a 6 speed, get a STS as well. Just got mine installed and I absolutely love it!

Looks like Edify covered the bulb section. As for intake, I am running the Berk and couldn't be happier: http://forums.maxima.org/member.php?userid=4406 Berk's info...
Are you planning on wheels/lowering at all. This for me is one of the biggest (look) mods you can do to the max!!
Only 23 miles? You better get on the road, the Max loves to be driven!!!

Edify11...sorry to hear about your first Maxima...what was the deal with that? Thanks for the info on the bulbs. I'll check out that website and will be ordering. I did notice on the Berk website that there is no pics/info on a intake for a 2005 Maxima. Which one did you order? Thanks for the info and for the other folks responding...peace!

Edify11,

Let me get this straight on the bulbs.

- T6 PIAA Extreme White Bulbs = to replace dome lights (front and rear) - is it really close to HID like the ttstuff website say's?

- 168 PIAA Extreme White Wedge Bulbs = to replace lights at the feet (drivers side and passenger side?). What are the bulb types in the doors when you open them...probably can get them a bit brighter too.

- H3 PIAA Super Plasma or Ion Crystal Bulbs = to replace fog lights. The Super Plasma will come close to my xenon headlights (color?). Do like the idea of separating the color with Ion Crystal Bulbs too...

- 1157 PIAA Extreme White = to replace cornering lights. Have you tried or seen these in a amber color like the blinker? Didn't see any other color options on the ttstuff website.

Do you have or anyone else have recommendations for the other bulbs in the vehicle...like the license plate light or other lights on the car...the trunk for instance (not very bright)? In my past car, my Passat, I mounted two blue light bars in the trunk ceiling...very bright and gave a nice cool blue light when the trunk was open, not to mention you could see everything in there. Does it make a difference to upgrade (if possible) the brake lights even though it's behind the red plastic? Thanks again all!

Edify...This came from one of my first posts...you were wrong on the cornering bulbs...it's not 1157...just wanted to let you know. The cornering bulbs are wedge type...3156 I believe...
