Stock Subs

Hi. Does anybody agree with me that the stock subs in the Max suck? I was just wondering if anybody had replaced the stock sub and amp in the factory place with after market sub and amp? And if so, with what? I just want the bass to be better but not take up room in the trunk and I also do not want to use up the room where the spare tire goes.

Someone please help!

Thanks!

Plus, if someone has a wiring diagram for the 05 Max that will be greatly appreciated as well.

In my opinion the stock system is pretty good (for a stock system). I have never owned a car where the stock system performed anywhere close to how the Maxima system performs. You can always use an upgrade to any stock system, but I wouldn't say that the Maxima's sucks.

Same Here. I have never been in a car where the stock system could give out that much bass. And I don't have the bose system.

I also have a box in my trunk, a bit bigger than the pic above but I still have plenty of room to haul stuff around...as for replacing the stock subs, not sure becuase they are "free air" subs without a box, I don't think you'll ever get the type of bass response I think that you want out of the Max. I'm no pro and I'm sure someone else will chime in with some more legit info...
Here's my box (with amp mounted to the backside)

Single 12" in mine, still have plenty of room. Planet Audio 600 watt amp is pretty good thump for it's size as well. Hope this gives you an idea. It is a sealed enclosure. Still running stock head unit.

The stock sub in the Max gives great bass for a stock system IMHO. If you want more bass, you are probably going to have to install a box because I am sure that the stock sub is a "free air" sub as jsmithsole stated above. Opinions vary but to say the stock system sucks...going overboard a bit.

Hey carcus, you in Biloxi too? Need to talk to you about who did your install, how it was tied in...etc.

Thanks Guys for your info. I will definitely install a box in the rear. Just one question, when adding the extra sub, do you leave the factory subs alone?

And where would you connect the speaker wires from the aftermarket sub?

Does anybody have a wiring diagram for the 05 Max?

Thanks again for your input.

This is the BEST MAX site ever!

for this you have to get an "hi/lo" adapter your local shop know what it is. it gives you av out puts so you can hook up an amp to the factory radio. with this you can leave all your oem spk alone with the extra box of subs for and added boom.

basicly you will be adding two more spk to the 8 it already has. (good choice)

My System

JL Audio 12" sub and a Rockford Fosgate amp. I custom built the box to take up as little space as possible. There still is a ton of room in there!

Stock Subs

Do you mind teaching me how you put that together? i.e. what materials do I need to purchase and so on... It looks great and looks like it will thump too. That is EXACTLY what I was looking for.

Thanks!

You guys haven't been in the new Ford F-150. That has a crazy sub. It sounds like the aftermarket. When ever I sit in the back it shakes me.

Out here in Biloxi. Kinda cool to see another Max owner out here. Had the install done my Hoopers....stay away from there....I was the first Max they did.....was not a good job....I think they busted my shift ****. Hey, email me when you get a chance. Right now dealing with Pat Peck....they have me in a rental while they are replacing my left front headlight. Did you buy your car there where I got mine?

carcster88@yahoo.com

I got alot to tell you about that place........

Hey guys maybe I'm mistaken, but I love how the stereo system sounds. It definitely is better than my aftermarket one on the corolla, and I've got a complete Pioneer system with a 900watt Pioneer amp and two 10" Hollywood bazooka woofers. The only thing I would do is put the Nissan woofer that's on the murano in my Max.

I think for a stock radio....the sounds are pretty damn good. I don't have the BOSE system I have the NDSS thing (I guess a lower version of BOSE) but it sounds pretty good....hell, good enough that the bass rattle my license plate and I have to put a lil Dynamat on it......
