Hello everyone,

I just wanted to introduce myself. I bought myself the SL as a Christmas gift to myself. Before this car, I had a Tiburon and Eclipse, which I spent thousands of dollars on trying to make them fast and look good.

http://gadsm.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7703&highlight=
http://www.mustangmods.com/data/9894/combined.jpg

After so much work, I gave up and decided to move on to something that starts off with a lot of power and has potential for more. So here I am.
I bought this one used for $24k with all the goodies. I'm loving every second I'm in the car. Traffic to/from work isn't so much of a hassle any more. The only drawback is that I'm still trying to get used to an auto tranny. It's the 4-sp auto... I had every intention of buying another manual, but I couldn't pass up this price.

Anyway, it's great to be here !

Welcome to the Maxima family. The Max has a very high customer loyalty. Most likely, this will not be your last Maxima. BTW- The Maxima is pretty easy to work on if you are a DIY'er. I dont like fixing my wifes Audi. The Audi is a PITA!

I plan on getting the sixth generation maybe, someday. My car has 113,000mi. Still going strong.

true, but I don't see the 6th Gen being DIY friendly. like all new models, it has been created to be dealer dependent.

But more importantly, one factor that attracted me was low/no maintanece.

You made a great choice with the Onyx.

Thanks everyone!

DvSMAXXX04,
My car is black too! I was trying to decide what type of rims to slap on and after taking a look at your picture, I will have to go with black/chrome lip!
Tinting her up this weekend...

You may be right and I have a disadvantage since I don't own one. But I'm sure I'd be able to fix most minor to moderate issues with the Org's help and a Haynes manual.

New cars look like a furnature under the hood nowadays. It's really just a plastic cover.

Good look on that maxima buy and welcome to the fam.
The more I see the max on the road the better the picture I get of my car rolling.
I really like to see other maximas riding, because they look real good and I know thats how my baby looks.

Welcome man. The 4 SPD doesn't have manual mode right? I know the newer SL's come with the Manual mode.

I'll introduce myself here too, because I've got the same type of car, bought at about the same time I bet, with the same 4spd. auto. Except mine is the Winter Frost...i.e. white. I'm very pleased with it. Mine's stock, and will probably stay that way for the most part. It has been tinted though.

It doesn't have the traction control...but I live in GA, so hopefully that won't be a big deal.

Off topic question but is 24k normal for a fully loaded SL 04? Looking at Maxima's come spring. Currently have a 00 celica but I'd like to move back to the luxury line and my 95 maxima was such a great car.

Anyway I've been looking at the maximas and I basiclly want to get a base SL but with the elite package. Even an 04 with this I'd figured I'd be hard pressed to get it for under 29k let alone 24k. At least with the basic research I've been doing so far. Perhaps it's just the area I live in?

I'm sure area is important. But dealerships will always deal with you. I paid 24k also, in addition to getting a very generous trade-in. But bear in mind that my car had about 27k miles on it.

Oh I know dealerships will work with it. I work in retail I understand the mark up I just have a hard time beleiving I could get an SL 04 fully loaded with elite package for 24k. From what I've seen dealers advertise them for about 29k used. I could see walking out of there with it at 26k... but 5k off?

Oh, I didn't notice that you wanted the Elite package on it. That's the one with the rear console that's kinda limo-like right? I'm sure that adds quite a bit to the price. I guess 26k probably is what you'll have to pay for one with that feature. That'll mean only four seats and no big trunk pass-through though.

Most I would ever have in car is 4 anyway and the heated rear seats would be nice for when I have regional reps for my job in town. However I might just go with one without the elie package. Driver prefered works I guess however the difference in price is only about 800 so really shouldn't be adding to much to the price. Not looking to get the navigation unit I think. Just a huge rip off to go with one from the dealer. If I ever add that in I'll probably just go aftermarket.

Cool...Dvinci wheels has some really nice rims to look at if you want to go with that. Just promise you wont get the same rims as mine!

Thanks for the welcomes. There's lots of great info on here...seems like there's lots of good folks on here as well. And I hope you didn't mind me jumping in with an intro here too SLuxury...just seemed like a good place.

As an aside...did anyone else see this smiley and completely misinterpret the gesture being made?
