Catalytic converter

Hello All: After 2350 miles on my 05 it just gets better and better(I just wish my daily commute was longer)! I have one question: does the catalytic converter have a break in period? I am noticing a rotten egg smell after hard acceleration and was told by my dealer's service manager that this is normal for a new Max. Iam using 93 octane so i am assuming its not the gas. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

I have an 04 (bought Jan 02 of 04) and didn't have that smell. I had a burning rubber smell after I got out, from the engine compartment. I would look at the brand of gasoline you are using and is it a station that would be selling a lot of premium fuel. You may be getting fuel either high in Sulfer or stale gas. I know in the south central states (I never heard a case of a nissan doing it) there was an unusually high amount of sulfer that was in the gas and it caused their sending units to fail. I want to say it was primarily Chevron and Texaco gas that was unusually high. But I could be wrong.
