Adding Oil

Adding Oil
Has anyone had to add oil to their car in between oil changes. I change oil every 3750. I just checked the oil and it's extremely low. I had to add two quarts and it still shows low. I'm assuming it's not normal for a new car to burn ANY oil at all right? There are no leaks in my parking spot, so I'm assuming it's slowly being burned somehow. Anyone else see this?

That happened to me when I changed to Amsoil synthetic. I had to add oil every week or two. After a second oil change w/ Amsoil, problem went away. I guess it was just burning oil because I did not see any leaks.

scavynger - unless you have changed to synthetic oil (not advisable before 20K per Nissan), I would be concerned.
All my Maximas generally used a half quart (or slightly more) of oil during the first thousand miles or so, but within 4 or 5K had stopped using more than half a quart at the very most between oil changes (3750 miles).
I sort of gather from your post you have already changed oil at least once in this car. If you have already had at least one oil change, are still using dino (non-synthetic) oil, have added two quarts, and the level is still extremely low, I would strongly urge you to take this up with your service adviser.
Destroying an engine by running it without sufficient oil could negate your five year power train warranty. Do you have any idea what the 'drive-out' cost of a new Maxima engine is? Don't take a chance.
