Bummer, went out to my car this morning only to find both front windows down and the interior soaked by the rain. Gentle rain so they must have been down all night. The only thing I can figure is that the unlock button got pinched in my jeans pocket and held down for an extended period.

Has anyone else experienced this unexpected window lowering?

Any tips on how to get the interior dried out? Seats, floor, and door fabric are very wet.

That sucks. I never liked the feature of opening the windows remotely. I don't feel it serves any purpose and negative things like this can happen. As for drying out roll down those windows. Use towels or something absorbent to pick up any water that has pooled. Make sure get that interior totally dry or you it will stink!

 

it doesn't take much to roll them down by accident. I did it the other night, luckily I left something in the front or i'd have frost inside.

all I can think to do is lots of towels, dry-vac maybe, and condition the leather afterwards.

oh it'd still be there, just a lot lighter.

It shouldn't be able to go anywhere w/o the chip, but since disabled, it can go away easily piece by piece.

 

I've had this happen to me minus the rain. It was last winter and they were all down....must have sat on the fob just right. I'd suggest towels and a dry vac as well. Shouldn't be that bad. Maybe try and use your heat on the floor setting.

 

dry off what you can and let that texas heat take care the rest......

 

Take it to the dealer and ask them to detail it. When a used car comes in they clean it real good and get the carpet all wet and they just air dry it clean... my .02

Went to a detail shop and had them wet vac and blow dry. Have it sitting in the garage with windows open hoping to get it to dry out more. Still raining here, so I can't rely on the Texas heat yet.

My main remaining concern is the amount of water that might be in the door panels. I assume there are weep holes and it should drain by itself. Is this a valid assumption?

 

all u had to do was shop vac it and let it sit with the window open a lil bit and run the heat for bout half hour.....i detailed for 5 yrs

 

damn that just happened to me today. i thought somebody had broken in to my car but i see that the window was just down. my interior ir all wet ... I hope nothing electrical gets messed up

 

HUGE CAVEAT - Getting most of the inside dried out will not be a great problem. BUT, if the water got underneath the floor mat, you will have two inch thick sound insulation pads totally soaked with water.

I got water in my '04 just before Thanksgiving (during a very heavy rain), and dried everything out. Or so I thought. My son, the auto aficionado, told me there would be water under the floor carpet, and I must take off the door sill, kick panels, etc, lift the carpet and use a hair dryer, etc, until it was dry.

I dallied for two months, thinking it would dry itself out somehow. WRONG. I finally opened everything up during warm weather this past week, and found Lake Erie under there. I spent two days with paper towels and a hair dryer getting things dried out.

 

Do all Maximas have this feature or is it only on the sl? How does it work? I never heard of a remote auto windows down feature.

 

Not all generations of Maximas offer this feature. My 4th gen (1998) had this feature, my 5th gen (2001) did not and now it is back in my 6th gen (2004). To operate you simply push and hold the unlock button on you standard remote - both front windows will go down, if you let go of the remote button while they are going down they will stop (partially open) or you can put the key in the drivers door and turn and hold (an extra couple of seconds) and you will get the same effect. There is however no standard option for closing the windows.

 

I do also believe that this is on both the SL and SE models for 2004 and 2005

 

Wow thanks for the info, I just tried it and it works on my car too.

 

If you turn the key to the lock position they will close.

 

My SE has the feature. I have to press and hold some button on the key fob. Will never use it!!

Sorry what I meant to say was that you cannot close the windows with the keyfob, but the key in the drivers door (turned to lock) will close the windows exactly has NismoMax80 advised.
