Mini Mac for the Max

In the planning for installing a Mini Mac into the 04 Max. Anyone did it yet?
I'm taking the the Idea from a picture I found on this site with Max screen moved to the bottom and new screen on the top.

Planning a Lilliput 7" touch screen with the Max with Ext firewire HD.

If you have any input or Pic - please advise!

you don't need a touch screen for this set up? and I don't think its been done yet, but this is the best way in getting all the music files to play, dvd and all.

best of luck to ya.

It's a done deal! I'm currently on a project in Idaho and Mimax has been sitting in my garage since 10/04. As soon as I return I'm starting on this. I'm building and testing every thing while I'm out here and installing when I return.

How do I posts Pictures? I believe I got the Picture of the dash for You! (Tek-Niq)
The WIFI will come later.(Nismo3112) I have that access on my Treo600 phone.
But you know how it is, ounce you get started!

Pray that I get home soon - Software problems out here.

Nice. Great Choice, I only use macs, really stable Operating System. What size hard drive did you get or are you gonna get on it?

EDIT: Oh yea, and the wireless card on it is a must. I believe it is around 90 dollars, not sure but its a really good idea to pull into hotspots and go online.

On the HD I plan to go with the 40G on the Mini Mac and add another 120G - 200G via ext. firewire. They both should fit easy under the Pas. seat.

I plan to just copy MP3's to the 40G w/OS and keep 4-5 DVD's to the other. so I don't have to use the player so often.

Removing the current Maxima screen and lowering it to the space where the little storage compartment is. I seen this on this site from another Maxima owner. I can email you the picture.

How do you connect up your Ipod into the head unit? I use a mp3 20G Player in the car with cassette adapter. It works okay! I only use it on trips.

I plan to order the Mini Mac in about 2 weeks and start in house testing(in room test!!!I'm currently in Idaho on a project.) I drove the Max about 2 weeks during Christmas/New years, other than that, it's been in the garage since Oct. 12 04. My wife takes it to the post office once a week.

I'll keep you informed.

I use the crappy cassette adapter for now, sounds ok except it makes a whirling kinda sound as soon as you pop it in.

Here's some info:

The PAC AAI-NIS adaptor connects to the SAT input of the Factory BOSE. As long as you don't have SAT you can go this route. That way at least you get quality sound. I added a cup holder mount for mine (see Car Domain page)
Bryan at Berk stocks the PAC adaptor:
bryan@berktechnology.com
Here's some info as well:

Also here's the pics of the re-located screen (not my car):

Good luck with the Minimac, that thing is sick!!!

I couldn't get to your ebay link. What was it? And this it the same picture of the dash I found. When I seen this it solved the other screen issue. I plan to get that adapter whe it's time to install. Right now I'm still gathering parts.

Don't know when I'll be back home to install. I've already built in my spare time & sent home a computer while working out her on this project. It'll be some time near the end of March before I can expect to go home.

Yes! But we're tracking 3000 vehicles in real time in 20 location over IP, NOT PEOPLE.

There's a lot more of this coming over ther next coming years. Google search RFID for more info.
