Skyview Recall

To all 6th gen Maxima owners, there is a recall on the skyview windows. They intend to shatter due to low heating temps when the window was made. Take it back to the dealer ASAP. Mine shattered while driving and the sliding shades were open. the dealer is replacing them in numerous amounts.

Been there done that...they sent a recall letter a while back.
Just make sure your dealer knows what they are doing when replacing the glass. A bunch of people had theirs leak afterwards. My dealer brought in an aftermarket glass repair company to do mine....no problems!!

Do we HAVE to do this? If it is fine right now, couldn't we just keep the current skyview? Or is it definitely better to respond to the recall?

They are known to spontaniously burst when you least expect it. Most of them didn't/haven't but when/if it happens to you it will probably be in a rain storm.

If it does burst, would it be too late for me to take it to the dealer for repair under warranty or recall?

if you were a possible defective skyview, you would of received a letter. but you can always visit... heck just call your dealer.
