HID temp? 5000k-6000k?

i cant help but notice that when ever i drive at night, i can almost always identifiy a 6th gen because of the color of the lights. i was curious to find out what the factory capsules are rated at. thanks in advance.

Factopry D2S bulbs are 4100K Osram Xenarc Bulbs. I have the Philips D2S bulbs and the consenus says they work better than the Osram ones. The philips bulbs shine blue/purple just as well.

Projector and ballasts make it that color. Up close, you will see that the light is bright white.

i am alomst positive the blue is the reflection of the shutter. (why you see the blue line on the low cut-off) at least that's what the HID experts say about the color from bi-xenons.

maybe when bored, i'll position her to see the blue then flip the hi's on to see if this is true.

Yeah the Max's are real easy to pic out on the highway at a distance due to the color of the HID. I have a 5000k conversion and it doesn't look as blue/purple as the factory Max's.

can you just upgrade to the 12k capsule or do you have to upgrade the ballast as well?

Does not the higher temp of the light in K reduce the output and color shade? I have seen the color charts. Maxima looks kinda blue to me with the HID, with 12K, I imagine that looks purple, and reduced lighting.

you are right carcus, the higher the K, the more blue/purple the color gets. which reduces the light output. Its illegal to have them that bright. (if you notice, the package of those types of lights will say "for use for offroad" )Be careful because the cops might give you a ticket. They are starting to come down on those types of lights.

You can spot a 6th gen in the rear view mirror from about 2 miles. Nothing else quite like it.

It does reduce the light output when there is alot of light around you.. but its bright when there a dark street.. i think im gonna down grade the lights to about 8000k or maybe to factory 4000k The light shines blueish purple
