Leather Interior and Dogs?

Anyone here have any experience/advice regarding having a leather interior and dogs?

I've got 2 labs, both around 80lbs. I currently have a 2001 SE with cloth interior and never had any problems with them in the car. Yesterday I bought a 2005 SL with leather, which will be delivered early this week.

I plan on buying a fitted seat cover for the back seat, probably for DrsFosterSmith.com It'll only be on when they are in the car, about once week. Anyone have any suggestions on any alternatives I should look into?

the new maxes have like a rug interior on the doors and the front, good luck removing dog hair from all that...(never mind the leather)

I will never let my, or any other dog in my Max. Maybe fold down the rear seats? they could lay down in the back and open trunk, i guess.

you also have to worry about them on the back of front seats, "suede" trim as Niq mentioned, and the usual window slobber...

i would only let them in a second car, never the Max. guess u traded the '01?

riding with dogs in a car is nasty. especially in a 30,000 dollar car. you have violated rule # 46.

like you, I also had an 01 SE then traded it to for an 04 SL...Leather can better handle the hair, dust and dirt that your dogs bring in...currently have a golden retriever and a yellow lab (had to put her to sleep)...the cloth seats just sucked up everything they brought in...and was a PIA to clean...for leather, you just wipe them off with a damp rag...for the door panels, just use a rolling lint brush...a little spray of Febreeze on the door panels and the floor mats and you should be fine...for the window slobber, thats just a mark of a dog lover...

My dad's dog hopped up in my car the 3rd day I had it. I about freaked out. I love dogs but wouldn't ride them around in anything more than the back of a pickup.

If you have to tote them around in your car, something like this might help. http://www.leatherworldtech.com/prod...roductid=lm311

As I said in my first post, I will be buying a fitted seat cover for the back seat.

I am not worried about dog hair, its a fact of life when you have dogs, whether you allow them in your car or not.

The only thing I'm really concerned about is the leather scratching or ripping.
