nissan is buying back my non-repairable 2004 maxima sl
How is it that there are so many people that can afford to buy brand new Maximas but cannot write a sentance?
The 4th Gens are rock solid; one of the most reliable designs the world has ever seen. The 5th Gens are pretty much the same car with some big updates. The 6th Gen is an entirely new car with virtually nothing carrying over except the engine, and even that has changed somewhat. Nissan had better do something about the 6th Gen, it seems to lack the "Maxima-ness" that the defined its predecessors.

mattman, when you say buy back, how does that work? How did Nissan arrive at a price? I won't be so crude as to ask what Nissan will pay you for your car, but does their offer seem fair? Is their offer similar to Kelly Blue book trade-in on an '04 with your mileage, or is Nissan stepping up to the plate and giving you close to what you paid for your car?

i fix my shimmy problem by putting 35 psi in my tires. i replace my rsa (defective) with falken st115. still had the shimmy. got it rebalance and still no good until i add more air into the tires. the guy at discount tires only put in 32 psi. if u guys havnt replace ur rsa plz get them replace. they will split around 25000. (if u never rotate ur tires) they will split on both side for the front and on the inside for the rear. like razor cuts so look very closely at ure tires.
I have a 05 SE 3,100k, Brought my car into the dealer for an OIL LEAK on September 29, 2005. Was originally told it needed a rear main oil seal. Brought it in on Oct 5th, they kept the cat 2 days and called mr and told me they could not get to fix the car yet due to the tool to drop the motor was tied up on another job. Brought the car back on Oct 12th. On Oct 14th they called me and said the problem is not the rear main it is up by the intake part of the motor. Was told they were ordering the correct parts and the car will be done on Oct 20th. On Oct 20th they called and said the car is still not done their tech was out sick, the car should be done by Oct 26th. Finally received a call on Oct 28th and now was told that the problem is a bolt is stripped in the aluminum block and therefore we have to replace the bottom 1/2 of the motor about another 10 days. I said do not proceed, this is unacceptable and i do not want a re-built motor, the car has 3000 miles and i want what I paid $27k for. I called Nissan N.A. and they offered me with the repair an extended warranty. I told them oh no-I want you to trade me out of this car and give me a new one, like what I paid for. The Regional Specialist told me they will have to review this file and let me know this week. After all this time the car has exceeded 20 days in the shop which constitutes the Lemon Law. If I don't get what I want from nissan N.A. I will get an Atorney.. Any suggestions would be helpful. Oh and I forgot this car also has the SHIMMY problem. Thx.
besides the damn wheel shim my max is perfect. I been told just about everything about the shim I was even told that is expected to have a shim when you ride 18" tires. After I heard that I quit going to the dealers and decided to puti up with the shim until is time to replace the tires maybe that will help. I never liked Goodyears anyways.
