Radio reception stinks

Nope. Depends on the station. You say you're 20 miles from the station, but where's the transmitter? How strong (watts) is their signal? Which area are they beaming towards?
I carry an AM station all the way from Louisville KY to Nashville TN with no problems. But then it's a 50k watt clear channel station that broadcasts mainly south of Louisville.

Are your windows tinted - mainly the rear window. The vehicle's antenna is on the rear window. I've heard of some people whose tint was in the dot matrix area of the rear window notice a degradation of signal quality. I don't recall how severe their issue was. I guess it depends on your film(if any) and the quality of the station you're tuned into.

The radio signal hits the antenna in the glass before the tint, so the film shouldn't be an issue. The signal to the SAT might be affected if the antenna is mounted on the rear deck and has to go through the film (metal only). I only use Solar Gard HP film and haven't had any complaints about radio reception (yet)! I have heard of diminished radar detector sensitivity because of the detector being mounted behind a windshield strip (again, metal film only). After I installed the SAT (Sirius) on my 04, FM really sucks now!!!!! Now my biggest problem is my wife wants to listen to the all ELVIS station!!!!!

You might check a couple of things -
- The connection at the antenna leads or from the antenna to the radio itself could be loose or disconnected
- There is an "antenna trimmer" in almost all radios that allows the antenna's sensitivity to be adjusted. It is usually a matter of turning a screw (or potentiometer), but you have to know where it is and how to do it.
I'd still say take it to the dealer.
