MAXIMA Personallities

Hey, I've been on this board for about a month now (as long as I've had my amazing car) and I feel I have a decent understanding as to who's who of the board.

I was curious to see if everyone (or at least those that will read this post) will post a few comments about themselves and their "Maxima" personalities.

Here I go....

My name is MO, I live in Pasadena California and I work at UCLA, were I graduated 2 years ago with a BS in Chemical Engineering. Yes I do make the long commute (~25miles) mostly in traffic each way everyday!

Maxima Personality: I LOVE my car! I used to drive a Ford Escort ZX2 so its quite a step up! (Don't laugh, I needed something cheap to get me through school). I am not very knowledgeable about cars, but I am very hands-on, steer me in the right direction, and its all me from there. I am into Mods mostly for performance, little for looks or sound. I actually do love the Nissanburger and the rest of the badges, mostly becuase it does show off that its a MAXIMA and I am proud of the machine Nissan built.

If anyone ever has any questions, feel free to ask, I still am a newbie so I know what its like to be clueless about our car! I'll help where I can.

Why not?

My name is Jay and I like long walks on the beach, but not too far away from my Maxima.

Really, im 33 living in Houston working in ad sales. Just got married, took away some modding money but it was worth it.

I drive my Max as part of my job, and take clients around in it. I ALWAYS get compliments. I actually sell billboard ads, so I joke thats why I got the skyview, so people can see better.

Modding the Max has been fun, but I gotta admit it will never see a track. I just like to cruise in style and have some fun doing it. What I REALLY want is a 67-68 SS Camaro, but its not in the cards yet. Now THAT will see the track one day.

And yes, I like the Burger too.

this is like an A.A. for Maximas! LOL

I'll join the group.

My name is Paul, 26 from Bklyn. I'm in retail- I run a sporting goods store, also run an online store & eBay store. I walk to work (one block away) so no need for the max.

The wifey lives in L.I. its 50 mile trip (one way) so thats where I usually drive the Max to.

My previous cars were: a 91 sentra xe when I was 16 (i abused that car cause I was young and stupid, but the nissan engine still ran like a champ) thats where I got hooked on Nissan. But then my next car, I went totally off and got a 94 Caddy STS. Still have the Caddy. I always drive it after i watch the godfather. LOL

Then I decided to go back with a nissan. I wanted white, but they didnt make it with black interior, so that got scratched. my 2 previous cars were black, so what the hell, 3rd times a charm.

As for mods, no performance mods, just some external ones. Mesh grille, chrome wheels, light 35% tint. I bought LED lights to try out for the real tailights, but they looked like crap. ok I'm done

My name is Mark and I am a Maxiholic. I live in sunny so cal, about 40 miles east of LA. I am 43, an attorney, and a single dad of 3 wonderful teens. My office is only a mile from my house so I take the long route there to enjoy my Max. If I go to court the drive is longer and I enjoy my max that way.

I had a Spec V before this but it was too small. Loved the handling and Brembo brakes.

I upgraded to the Max and have been modding it as most of u know. I have a body kit, front strut brace and Street scene grill waiting for me at Stillen warehouse, 40 min from my house. Im getting my car fitted with a cat back Stromung exhaust Tuesday and thats when I pick up my parts.

Ill blacken the headlight chrome when I get brave and have 5 hours of free time. I like the Kaminari spoiler from a Lancer for the back. Not sure it will fit. Its not too ricey, just the right amount of spicey.

I truly am, a Maxiholic.

Hello, my friends call me JP. I'm a Maxaholic. I'm one lucky SOB because my job pays for my Maxima. This is my second one. I traded my 98 in for this one. I too use the car to take clients out. To me it's the best you can get for the money when have to use a car the way I do. I like my warentee so no mods for me. I also drive in some realy bad areas so no fancy extieror stuff either. It's all good tho because I have a 69 camaro too.

Guys, this site rox. It's been so informative for me.

My name is Chad I'm 31 and live in North East Alabama. WarEagle!. This is my second Maxima my last one was a 95 SE. That joker was bullet proof with over a 250k miles on it when I got rid of her. Since then I was sold on the reliability of the Max. I probably spent $700 on that car for repairs beyond normal maitenance. I see some of the nightmares on here and hope that they are just flukes. Oh I also had (my wife did) an 01 Xterra for a couple of years. Great ride just weak as hell motor and sucked gas like a BIG SUV would. Sold it and got her an 04 Accord. Nice ride but no match for the Max (accept for comfort-the seats are very comfortable).

I drive quite a bit on the job entertaining clients and making visits to client sites but my drive to work is only 2 miles. I will keep this one stock for the most part accept for a spoiler in the near future and tinted windows. Thats about it for mods we are fairly conservative around here and it does not take much to stand out like a sore thumb. This site is great with people that have far more knowledge than most service managers that I have ever met.

My name is Kenny I live in Eagle Rock,CA. I work for Escort Racing in the city of Covina, where I mostly do secretario work. Very fun job as I get to meet alot of ppl in the import scene.

I previously had a 97 accord and sold it a yr later to buy my first Nissan car which is a 90 TT 300zx. Unfortunately engine blew as a result of the timing belt snapping. Then I joined my parents in purchaseing a 2002 accord, kinda wished I hadnt. Well anyway long story short we traded the accord for a 05 Max SE and I glad we did. It is a very nice car, and I get quite abit of compliments. Now I just need to fix my Z and I am all set .

So if anyone sees a Smoke Maxima in the LA area with ERP stickers on the rear windows say hi

My name is Brad. Im 23 and Im an Air Traffic Controller for the US Navy. I live in Virginia Beach, VA. Im married and have a 2 year old daughter who I love to death.
I love Nissans. I grew up on Nissans. My dad owned nothing but Nissans, my older brother has owned 2 Sentras, and my twin brother currently owns an 03 Maxima. This is my 2nd Nissan that Ive had. My first was a 1995 200SX. I went from that to a 03 Neon, to an 02 Eclipse, than an 03 Eclipse. I regret every single one of them. Now that Im in my Max, I say that its a "keeper"! I also own an 03 Toyota 4Runner for the long trips and the cargo hauling.
I think the 6th gen Max is very unique and a beautifully designed car. I love everything about the car. I dont ever regret buying the car and I believe this is the car that I will NOT trade in. There are a whole lot mods that I still have in mind for the Maxima but of course, family will come first. Though the day will come that my Max will be modded to the fullest!

I agree man, this site does rock! Ive learned a TON of stuff here, and met some pretty cool people.

Im pretty new to this, and hopefully have not managed to **** off Nismo yet.

BTW, anyone had any problems with their struts before??

JP, your SS is beauuuuutiful! You've got the best of both worlds there. Nice work!!

Its cool to see that others use there Maximas for taking clients around. Thats where I really love this ride, its got enough room and luxury for that, while still having the style and POWER............ and the "fun" factor....cant get that from a Camry of ES300.

This threads turning out to be pretty cool.

OK, honesty time...I spend WAY too much time in the garage looking at my Maximigo when its cleaned up. Borderline obsession maybe... but it looks like im in the right forum. I cant IMAGINE what it would be like if the good Lord blessed me with an early model SS Camaro!!

29yo Texan. Airforce currently has me in NJ. C-17 mechanic for 11years now. I'm a truck person really and have had a couple Mustangs in the past also. Just sold an 02 mustang GT for the Maxima as a matter of fact. The Maxima is the first import I've owned. Figured I would get something nice and more practical that still has power this time around.

Anthony, 23, Buffalo Ny suburb...Work at an alarm company and just graduated college, looking for a job as a financial analyst. I like the car alot the way it is..It is a bargain at $30,000 in my opinion. This is the only 4 door sedan under 50k id want. I previously drove a 1996 taurus, given to me when i was 18, drove it to 95,ooomi engine blew, drove it to 117,000mi on a motor with 70k on it when i installed it for $2000. Got rid of it when i was 21, it was becoming a moneypit, but I had been saving up for a downpayment on something wayy better, and here i am at 30k and couldnt be happier. Had a dent last week on driver side rear door and lemme tell ya, paintless dent removal is pure MAGIC...cant even find it anymore and it was driving me nuckin futz. When i get a job that pays money i hope to put some 20" chrome on the maxima for the summer, no tint because I had too many tickets and hassles with the taurus. BTW this site is great,I was on freshalloy since I bought the maxima and realized I was the only person posting anything. Im pretty suprised by the age gap on the forum too, 17-55+? wow...I thought I was the only young guy to have this car lol. :attention

Hiya..My name is Max and I live in Miami, FL. For the past few years traffic here has been getting me really down to the point where after my previous lease expired,I didn't get a replacement and started riding the bus!!

That was last summer. A month ago I got tired of waiting for late busses all the time so I started car shopping. I was impressed with the Altima and what you could get for the money. I went to the dealership to check them out and ended up taking the Maxima for a test drive. That hooked me and I went home in my new Maxima. Funniest thing is I haven't been late to work once since I got this car, where I used to only make it to work on time once or twice a month. It's been great therapy!

PS..I also LOVE this site. I have gotten soooo much great information and you all have me drooling over the possible mods.

I think my first mod will be sound. I've decided on a good set of Infinity speakers with AMP. Now I just need to save up for it.

I've always liked cars, especially high performance sports cars. I just never could afford to really get into it. I'm a computer tech and have gotten to the point where I can enjoy my ride. I like anything that allows me to command the road, import or domestic. My automotive tree looks like this:

77 Pinto (the sporty looking one)
89 Ford Granada
79 Trans Am
82 Mustang (4banger)
78 280Z (great car, fun to drive; lost it to tourists..total loss )
86 200SX (my first car loan)
78 Porche 924 (owned 5 years, drivable 3 weeks)
84 Trans Am (hurricane andrew killed it)
86 RX-7
89 Cutlass Supreme
01 Saturn L200 (tired of repairing used cars)
04 Miami-Dade Metro Bus
05 Maxima

Names James. About to graduate for Seton Hall University. I work at best buy selling camera's and camecorders.

Maxima Personality: I'm addicted to max's. I can always pin point one on the road or elsewhere. Like in the infiniti FX commercial the FX parks between a orange 6gen and a black 5th gen. How many people would notice that? So yeah. My last car was a dodge intrepid, nicely modded but definatly slow. But it was my first.

The maxima blew me away when i test drove it, and now i'm hooked. It was perfect for me, speed and size. I'm a large guy i need to be comfortable when i drive. And drive i do, first year i racked up 36k miles alone. I'm usually **** about cleaning it, but with my accident i've been a little more lenient. After graduation i get to focus a lot more on my car. Can't wait.

I find myself on the org all the time, mostly in class or when i'm procrastinating. Wouldn't have known half of what i knew if it wasn't for everyone here, plus good hook ups on parts, and meets are always a blast. My names james and i'm a maxiholic and proud of it.

yO yO,

my friends call me Sak short for something you shouldnt even worry about. Im 19 years old and live in La Puente California, and currently attend Cal Poly Pomona, and work at Circuit City. I got an Smoke 05 Maxima currently with 700 miles on it (still breaking it in). i used to drive an 88 Honda Prelude 2.0 si but had to sell it in order to get a new car. I also used to drive a 2000 Yamaha R6 but got in a major accident and almost died. (stupid biotch hit me). If i had money id get another bike in a heart beat. Anywho i love this car other than for the tranny, ive noticed a few problems but i guess im just hoping they would go away since its practically still new. As for mods im gettin quotes for tint and so far im at $150 titanium film limo in the back and medium in the front. After that im looking for a Injen CAI, and a billet grill and possibly some rims. As for the interior i got cloth cuz im not too fond of leather. Im gonna purchase and install some orange neon lights and put those under the dash so when the door opens its an orange light instead of a dim white light. Im still contradicitng to see if i should get orange lights and install those underneath the car. Sound wise im going to leave the factory bose system in there but im going to change out the speakers to infinity kappas and install a few 12" Alpine Type R subs.

sporty yet family sedan

I am in my mid 40's and work as a labor representative for public education employees (bargaining contracts and resolving contract interpretation disputes). I live in a fairly small community (about 13,000) and drive a lot for work. I bought the Maxima for its combination of power, near luxury, sportiness, and room. I doubt if I make any aftermarket modifications to my SL, though I think some chrome rims would look nice (too much $ though).

From: a meadow south of Atlanta
I am an old grouchy opinionated malcontent retired after thirty-five years in the Info Tech field.

After five years of college (UNC-Chapel Hill) and three years in the Army (photo/image interpreter, doppler radar and infrared sensory devices), I worked five years as a computer programmer with System Development Corp. in Santa Monica (and at several AF bases), programming missile and fighter specs/tactics for the Air Defense Command. I then worked thirty years in Atlanta as a computer engineer, programmer analyst, system analyst, etc for Norfolk Southern Corp.

My wife taught high school math for eleven years, and has worked in info tech the last twenty years.

We live in sort of a rural area south of Atlanta, and (except in winter) spend almost as much time on our mowers and diesel farm tractor as in our '04 SL.

I began driving in 1949 (black Studebaker), and have driven several million miles in the 56 years since. I have owned nothing but Maximas (4) for the last twenty years; Datsun before that. Other than practical things like drip shades over the windows and protective black rubber molding around the wheel well openings, we have no mods. We are extremely happy with our silver '04 SL (driv pref, power roof, VDC, etc).

Guess I'll be the first female to post on this one. I'm in my mid 40's, have worked for the government for 20 years and absolutely love my car. I can't drive fast enough and there are way too many cars on the road if you know what I mean. Haven't gotten a ticket yet, I'm trying to be very observant. I got one in my Xterra if you can believe that (very slow vehicle). I've always loved cars. Between my husband and I we've had 7 Nissans. '71 240Z, '84 truck 4x4, 84 300ZX 2+2, pathfinder, '94 quest, '02 xterra and now my '04 maxima. There were many more cars in my past but none worth mentioning except my first which was a '68 LeMans conv. There's a 350 in my future but I will need to wait till the kids are grown and driving on their own. Did I mention that I love my Maxima? My husband installed the Trenz Billet Grill for me and I have seat covers in the back (kids!). They still can't eat or drink back there. I tried the wind deflector for the sunroof but did not like the way it looked. Really took away the sleekness of the car.

My name is Matt, age 26, and I am a CPA in Middle Tennessee. My mother and grandparents live in Smyrna and I could see the plant from my bedroom window growing up. I had been a Honda guy with 2 civics and an accord, but they were too tinny. I traded my accord for a 2001 Audi A4. I had 75,000 miles of trouble with that car and traded it for the Max. It has been a tough adjustment going from German with 15" rims to Nissan with 18". I like the "factory" appearance, but have changed the door speakers and am considering SIRIUS.

BTW, my wife drives an Xterra. When I had my A4, I thought it was neat to swap cars with her. The only time she has driven the Max, I caught her with it parked right up front at the mall. After the lecture she got, she doesn't want to drive it anymore. I am alright with that b/c the Max is way more fun than her Xterra.
