Front Engine Near Grille Components

Anyone!

Need some assistance. My 2005 MAX was involved in a accident...basically a guy in a F250 ran me, my Wife and 2 1/2 year Daughter off the road...I had right side quarter panel damage and bumper damage. The body shop put the car back to together but forgot some of the cosmetic plastic parts on the top of the grill, directly in front of the radiator.

What I'm looking to find out is that, one I have a ECG Grille. Just like the stock grill it connects on the top on the right and left. It connects with a plastic screw type device on the top. What I need to know is...is there a black plastic part that goes over the painted portion on both sides? The body shop didn't put these back on and the portion of the grille that goes over it or under it is loose. See pic below..I put a yellow circle around the plastic top parts in questions...thanks to SilverBell...this is his photo I used to explain this...

If I'm correct, a normal stock grille or ECG grille that I have goes over this and one of those plastic clips, clips right in...thanks for the input ahead of time...

Sorry for the confusion...let me clarify...the picture is not my engine compartment, but rather an example. If you look at the picture...look at the two circles that I put on there that are in yellow (orginal post). On my car, I don't have this black plastic part that the grille connects to on the top. I'm at work and don't have a digital camera to show you my engine compartment. Anyhow, I'm looking to find out if the black plastic covers (they appear to be that) in the yellow circles on the picture, should be on my 2005 Maxima. Right now my ECG grille is connected on both sides, but they are not snug down and tight...about 1/8 room clearance...let me know if this clears the mud....

Tek...I don't see the black plastic parts on your right and left of your grille...Maybe I shouldn't have it...can you explain the picture in my orginal post? I'll email SilverBelle...it's his photo I was using as example...

Hey Maj Jimbo, Those black pieces of plastic are missing. The E&G grill sits on top of those pieces of black plastic should be nice and snug. My E&G sits snuggly attched with the palstic rivets/screws. The E&G grille has tabs just like the stock pic above.

Looks like yours are missing.

Good luck with it.

SilverBelle04...Thanks...I figured I was missing the black plastic parts but I figured I would check with you Nissan vets. My E&G Grill is not fitting well without that space filled by the plastic part. The body shop is having a problem identifying the part by number and getting the part. Do you or anyone have the part numbers for those black plastic parts? If I get the part numbers I can help them get the parts and they can get my car back together...thanks all!

Jimbo

P.S. - SilverBelle...hope you don't mind I used your photo for example purposes...I didn't have a before shot of my engine compartment....

SilverBelle...did you get part numbers or anything off the parts in question? Had my car in for service for the HID headlights and mentioned it. They didn't find it either, or didn't find it on the 2005 Maxima's. I'm at loss at this point cause I know when I put on my E&G Grille it had a very snug fit on the right and left...let me know what you come up with. Mean time I'm emailing the Service Tech who has been really helping me out with a link to this thread to see the pics. Thanks!

I took another look under the the hood after work while it was still light. I can't see any numbers on the blck pieces. My E&G sits on top of the black and fits snuggly on both sides.

Could the numbers be underneath it? This would probably require to take it off...which I know you would probably don't want to do since those plastic clips are not the best. Thanks anyhow....

Not right now, but I'll go out to my car and take a pic...and then upload it to Cardomain...wait about 10 minutes....

================

EDIT: Silverbelle...here is a pic of the engine compartment...look at the far left and right and you'll see the grille is attached directly to the painted area. From what I remember, it fit very snug...now there is almost a 1/8 of a inch of space between the grille portion and the painted portion being held by the cheap clip. Let me know if this makes sense.

Oh...I know the plastic part between the radiator and the grille that covers the top over the hood latch is missing. The body shop did put it on, but it was missing clips and was scratched up and they ordered a new one....

I'm going to take a good look tomorrow morning at mine and get back to you. Its too dark right now where my car is to see anything.

From your pics it looks like the black piece is painted whereas mine is black ??? I'm starting to think that its all part of the bumber piece, but looks like a different part because of the way it is black from the factory ?

Is it possible the push pins holding the grille are not fully pressed in or have been weakened by the accident impact ? Or maybe they used the worng ones ?

Like i mentioned i'll take another look tomorrow morning and let you know.

Good questions SilverBelle...it is possible the plastic pins are weakenend probably from taking it off again and putting it back on. They are ordering new one's and should be ready tomorrow to put on. Well...check if your parts are indeed painted black and not a cover over that area. Kinda weird that Nissan would paint that black when it's all one component of the front bumper. This whole thing really stuck out when my front grille was making bumping noises when I was driving it back home from the body shop and thats when I found missing plastic pins, the top plastic part was scratched and not attached right and the right and left of the grille attached in the area in question was very loose. Let me know what you come up with...thanks!

Update...got the car back from the body shop and since Nissan didn't find a part number for those black covers on the left and right of the grille, they put a rubber washer under it to make up for the space till I can get part numbers or if someone has them here and when Nissan figures out what is going on.

I guess I should have asked this before, but for other 2005 Max owners...do you have a black plastic cover in question on the left and right of your grille that your grille is connected to...basically on top of it? Look at the previous post pictures to see what I'm talking about...

Till then...I'm at total loss....
