Sound from left speakers muffled when playing CDs

Just recently, I noticed that the music was only coming through my right speakers when playing CDs. When I switch to the radio, the sound is normal from all the speakers. It only happens when playing CDs. It sounds muffled. Tried to take it to the dealer twice but on my way to them, it suddenly went back to normal. It's hard to explain to them unless they can hear it for themselves so I'm waiting for it to do it again before I take it to them. It's been happening intermittently every couple of days to 3-4 times a day.
Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have an idea what the problem might be? Thanks for your input.

I have not experienced this problem, and as far as I know this problem has not been mentioned/posted previously. Perhaps there is an intermittent connection from the CD player to the amplifier. Good luck.

I had this issue a few months ago and posted here. Turns out several others here were experiencing the same thing with the 6th gen, as well as previous models.

The dealer replaced it under warranty. Turns out this is a common issue with the cd player.

As scavynger said, this is a known issue but not so much with the 6th gens. My 5th gen with the Bose system had the exact problem you describe. It is something they will take care of under warranty. BTW, if you play any burned CDs, I would take them out when I take it in to the dealer. In the past I have heard about dealers trying to attribute the problem to them which is total BS. Nissan doesn't support their playback so they must be the cause of all CD related failures. Yeah, right.

ITs the crappy BOSE CD Player I had the same issue and It was solved by replacing the cd player. For some reason it only happened when playing cd's I got mine replaced and it solved the problem.

Hmm I just had mine replaced about 3 weeks ago due to skipping problems. Now this morning on my way to work the muffled drivers side speaker problem started. I think it may be worse on burned CD-R's than on regular manufactured ones. I'll have to spend a bit more time diagnosing it.

Any ideas why it does this? It sounds more like a loose connector than anything else really.

Yep. I have this problem. Took it in to get that fixed (along with some other things), and they couldn't reproduce!

Now I have to find a time when it's doing it and bring it by. The guy said he hadn't heard anything about this problem.

It is the 6 Disc changer in the stereo. I have had it changed 3 times. I think we finally go it. A channel goes bad on the back of the changer. This is amplified by the use of CD-Rs. I use them all the time. The left driver speaker is the most affected because it has the least draw of power from the stereo.

After reading your post, I decided to check mine. I thought that it was just old age creeping up on me with a little deafness setting in (aftereffects of being a youth in the 70's!). But amazingly I noticed that that the problem with varying levels of volume varied from one CD to the next. On some there was no audible difference; for others there were large fluctuations. But I attribute this to the CD manufacturing process, not the player. Who knows?

My player is at fault. When I hit the brakes hard, hit a pot hole, or take a sharp corner the speakers come back on.

I took the trim plates off..and tried jiggling the connectors and wiring harness and that had absolutely no effect on the sound. I'm thinking its a cold weld problem on the circuit board inside the player.

When I had my changer swapped due to skipping I noticed on the work order that Nissan has the changers returned to Clarion. Probably to have them rebuilt. My bet is that they get sent back out to the field for warranty work replacment parts. They may have addressed a skipping problem, but had not diagnosed a speaker cut-out problem in the unit and sent it back out from the shop. I think I'm going to ask if the next one is rebuilt or new.
