6 speed tranny noise?

Hello all!
I am new to this forum. I have recently purchased a 6th gen max. 6 spd. beautiful. It is my new found love. The tranny is a little too loud. I was wondering if all of them are the same way or do I need to take it in to the dealer? It makes high pitch humming noise constantly. Is this normal or what?
Thanks for your responses!

I have the 6 speed manual and I am not experiencing the humming sound, but I am experiencing another problem. The problem I have is a hard shift (clunk or grind) from first to second when it is cold outside (30 F or below). As soon as the car warms up the problem goes away. I contacted the dealer about this issue and they said “the hard shift is normal and if I drove any other Maxima it would do the same thing”. He then went on to tell me there is nothing they can do about it. Obviously I question the competency of this dealer and I will bring the car someplace else for service, but I am not sure if this is a common problem or not. Any information would be appreciated. BTW this is my first post on this forum.

I have the same issue with my 6speed w/1-2 shift in cold.

I have observed if I sit and let the car warm up (temp guage in middle) the problem doesn't exist.

So now I take out those few extra minutes for the warm up process and no more complaints about the 1-2 shifts.

And I haven't had any funny noises like a humming so you might want to get that to the dealership.

I haven't noticed that kind of problem, but, then again, I just bought it. We will see. I don't know if I'm describing my problem properly. The noise that I'm talking about is constant and it gets loud as you accelerate. I drive a 5sp honda civic as well and I've driven many other cars and none is as noisy as this one.

I have the hard 1-2 shift when cold. Can avoid it by shifting v-e-r-r-r-y slowly until the tranny warms up. I have some Redline synthetic gear lube I want to get in, but haven't had the chance yet - hope it helps!

I'm taking it to the dealer on Friday, I'll let you know their findings.

I do not have the noise problem but I did have the hard shifting problem. This was worse when it was cold. I took it in when I did my first oil change and the technician said there was no problem. I then went on a drive test with the technician thinking he must find the grinding problem as it was very cold outside and the car was sitting at the dealer overnight. When has was driving I noticed that he shifted hard and did not see any problem. Well low and behold it was 100% better when I got it back. Ever since then it has improved day by day to now where it is almost perfect..

My thinking is that the dealer made an adjustment and did not tell me or that shifting hard will eventually mesh things together over time.
