yeah, i'll probably do mine sometime in May. JL's would be nice but if you are strictly upgrading the stock speakers, JL's won't work because the stock 8's are in an infinte baffle or free-air design. I was looking at replacing with Kicker Mid-bass 8's or MTX 8's. Both would work in the rear deck. We have a speaker expert here but I forget his screename. Undoubtedly, he will see the thread and respond. You can ask him any speaker question and he'll have the answer. He's cool.

Talk to PearlMax96...don is the owner of Unexpected Creations and the official audio guru of the .org

I would suggest not upgrading your speaker doors unless you intend on having another midrange driver. The front soundstage is the single most important are of car audio...make sure you do it correctly!

if the Bose system is like that of old, we have a 1 ohm setup which doesn't allow you to just replace speakers.

This is something I plan on doing next weekend. I am using to 4ohm fosgate 8" subs and I will build the boxes for them this weekend. They only need .25 cu feet so the boxes will be small and I plan on installing them in the stock location. I also plan on replacing the head unit with an Alpine 9835, I also have the ipod interface for it. I will aslo replace the door speakers with 6.5 polk components for the front and polk 6.5 2 ways for the rear. I will also be installing a 4 channel amp for the door speakers and a two channel bridged for the 2 8" subs. The amps are mtx that I have had for awhile, but still work good.

Why not? I stated in another thread that I was planning on replacing my 8's with a pair of ED 9Kv.2 (dual 2 ohm voice coils paralleled to give a 1 ohm load). They have a decent xmax and a very low Fs for an 8". Modelling them in Unibox, they will handle about 100 watts each with most music except stuff with very low bass.

I will, It will be done next weekend. Wife and kid will be going out of town so I plan on spending all day Saturday out there working on my stereo. I will go by home depot tomorrow and get a sheet of 3/4" mdf for the boxes I will make. I plan on making the boxes tomorrow or sunday. I am curious to see how it will come out.
