why would you waste all that money on the SL model ($2000) extra over the SE, where if you wanted to add leather itd cost you an extra $1500 or so (according to my dealer) then go and replace the seats? to each his own, but i think that move is very unlikely to many of the maxima owners..

well for starters i didnt buy the SL i bought the SE. second of all, i would've gotten the 350 but i have a little girl to think about so i opted for the four door 350. thats what i affectionatly call it. you know minus the rear wheel drive and such. i also got the base model with the cloth interior for a couple of reasons. weight savings being one of them even though it isn't much. overall i just wanted a four door sports car that looks really good oh, and it had to have a six speed.

How can NISMO allow fakes to be sold on there? Also, F*** the power seats, I rarely adjust them anyway. Ok, losing the airbags sucks. But they are still kinda cool. I have some recaro-looking seats in my garage that I forgot about. Maybe Ill cover them in NISSAN leather and install em. Ill post pics later and see if u guys think its a good idea.

Those Tenzo R seats don't beat the stock seats for looks and comfort, but they can certainly protect you in an accident.

My son had those seats in a 97 Integra. A drunk driver hit him which caused the Integra to roll 4 times. The Tenzo seats kept him in place, and he only had the stock seat belt on. He experienced only mild injuries.

I'm sure that the stock Integra seats would have resulted in more severe injuries.

Anyone else install racing seats in their Maxima? I saw a Mercedes Benz Black Series and it has an awesome body kit and carbon fiber racing buckets. I love that look!!

Here is the Mercedes SLK 55 Black series:

Note the racing bucket seats.

Not only are nice seats functional, but when it comes time to resell the Max, the OEM seats will show LESS WEAR. I will miss the heat and the safety of the side airbags. But I found carbon fiber seats which weigh about 12-15 lbs which is about 35+ lbs weight savings PER SEAT for a total of 70+ lbs weight savings.

The stock front seats weigh 59 lbs each for a total of 118 lbs for both!!! Even if you find seats that weigh 25 lbs each, thats a total weight reduction of around 70 lbs! I found some carbon fiber, reclineable, black leather with red or black stitching on this website:

How can it be the best option on the car? In fact, I dislike them. If the motor breaks, ur f**ked. The manual seats are much quicker too - instantaneous. I dont need the 80 lbs in my heavy car, lol!!

It is his car let him mod it the way he wants.

Yeah they are ok. I just prefer better ones. Just waiting for the sliders to come in and a bracket to be made

This is really funny. Quite truly the only forum I have ever been on where no one is allowed to give a negative opinion of anything.

What the hell? How does giving an opinion not "let him mod the car anyway he wants"?

The whole purpose of a forum is to bounce opinions off of each other. I respect his car more than any other car here, and I'm happy to say that. Car is awesome.

I think modding the seats are stupid - its a luxury sedan, not a Civic. But of course, I take into consideration that his car is much more oriented towards racing then mine is, and therefore I respect his decision to mod his seats in that fashion. However, I am entitled to my opinion. Welcome to the internet.

Joshua

I have to say that my all time favorite mod I have ever, ever seen for this car was his roof spoiler from the Mazda 3. I show my wife the pic every time I log in on the site. She knows the car by name : "I know, Deus' car." It's quite funny.

Thanks Joshua and to your wife too. That spoiler took a lot of time to get right. It looks better in person too!

I drove to Santa Clarita to check out those Tenzo Leather and carbon fiber seats. They looked great, and they felt great to sit in. But . . . .. I brought my digital bathroom scale to weigh them and they were . .... 40 lbs!!! Waaay too heavy. Dammmit. And then remember, that was without sliders and brackets, another 5 lbs or so each. So weight savings would be minimal (28 lbs total), but its better than nothing. Im looknig around some more. I found some carbon fiber recliners that I can get locally and they weigh under 30 lbs each.

Check out this website:

I am also considering Corbeau seats. They weigh under 25-27 lbs and arent ridiculously expensive. Im looking at the GT7, the GTS II and the TRS models in black leather.

What do u guys think of these all leather seats out of an 05 Mitsubishi Evo:

I have a lead on a pair of these local to me. Just not sure what they weigh and I may be able to snag em for around $1400.

I checked out some Veilside seats today. I went to Veilside and sat in this seat:

They fit GREAT. Im 6'1" 210 with about 36" waist. But if you or anyone you carry is overweight, they gotta sit in the back. I weighed this seat and it is LESS THAN 24 lbs! It is very strong, light and very sharp looking. The bottom bracket is design to work with Bride (pronounced "Brid") sliders and brackets for mounting in the car. If I get these, I'll have to have brackets made, ugh.

Also, the cushions all are removable, which is good for washing or for putting in ur own cushions.

The seat I tried was all carbon fiber, including the *****. It was very cool looking. They look a lot like the Bride (yes, its pronounced "Brid") Gias seat but its about 1/3 the cost. What do you'll think of this?
