Getting Soaked

I did a search before posting this to see if anyone else has complained but couldn't find it. Does anyone else get soaked along with the door when it rains and you roll the window down for a little smoke? Wish they could have made a better rain channel on top of the car for this.

Yeah, the wind deflectors would work but wouldn't it mess up the lines of the car. I guess I need to quit whining and quit smoking or just get the deflectors. :-)

See the thread on being ****. That should prepare you for the responses you will probably get in here. I vote for quitting.

I agree, it sucks the way the water rushes in. It always soaks the suede crap on the doorpanels along with my window switches. I think the deflecters for our cars look like azz.

is there a point to this thread? you're concerned about the visual affect of wind deflectors, but don't care that the interior smells like an ashtray.

I am glad someone has the same problem as I. It's not just to smoke folks so get off your about smoking already. I appolgize if I offend any of you with mentioning smoking but if I didn't smoke I would still be a little miffed about the Niagra Falls at a drive-thru when raining.

Oh yeah, my interior does not smell like smoke because I roll the window down, thus the reason I started this thread. I guess I am just a .

now don't take me the wrong the way but...
1 even w/ windows open you can't deny anyone that doesn't smoke won't notice?
2 windows open in the rain... rain comes in. is this really new to you?

but yeah I realize how the water shoots around the pillar all over the window and flies off the mirror. but I assume this is due to the aerodynamics?

Yep, when I open the door while it is raining, the suede stuff and window switches get pretty wet....the angle of the door I guess. I would buy the tinted covers, but that would probably not solve the problem. I just make sure I close the door as quick as I can. Now, if you smoke.....and that is your choice....I am a ex-smoker, the window rain guards would work well for you if you like that look. For just opening the door during a heavy rain though, expect some water on the switches.

I would not mind deflectors if they were slim, flat, and no 3m tape. Acura has some sweet ones for their cars.

Looks, schmooks. Down here in dixie where the daytime temp is usually in the nineties or a hundred during the summer (which lasts half the year), if you don't leave the windows cracked at the top, the temp can reach the 140 degree area inside the car.

This kind of heat is not good for the car, nor anything that may be in the car. It took me a week to get my rain deflectors on my '04 SL (I've had them on every car I've owned for over 25 years). During that week, I entered the car after it had been sitting in the sun for hours, tool the cap off my Chapstick, and watched the entire contents flow right onto my pants. Washing did not take it out.

The ventshades for the 6th gen Maxima are smoke colored, and blend well against the black doorframe on which they are mounted. Those who feel the shades ruin the Maxima lines are probably like the Maxima drivers in states with front tags that go with no front tag and accept the tickets because they feel the front tag spoils the looks of the car.

I prefer practicality.

Um . . front tags DO spoil the look of the car. NO tickets yet.

Smoking? In the car?

I for one rarely roll my windows down. If I do it's never when it rains!

no smoking allowed in my car. But i put the autoshade pieces on as soon as i got the car. I prefer to have the windows cracked, especially while i'm at work to let some air in without anyone knowing their open for the most part. They work great and don't mess up the look of the car either. Check my cardomain page for pictures.
