there should be no need to bleed/replace if you simply hold down the brake pedal (brick or someone elses foot) to maintain the pressure.

Yes, I did the bleeding. If you hustle, you may only need 1/2 of 12oz brake fluid. Otherwise brake tank empties out. I used Valvoline Synpower DOT 3&4. Do not use Silicone/DOT5.

Great reminder !PrjctMax!. Guys, if you have never done brakes before, at least ask or read about it. Good tires and good brakes are your only connection to the road.

I did just to make sure I had no air bubbles in new SS lines.

nothing wrong with that, but I was showing the other guy it WAS stated by Tek-Niq to bleed them. I just added the procedure about holding the pedal.

You CANNOT change brake lines and not bleed the brakes, if you want to do the job right. I don't care what you do (hold down the brake pedal) the new lines have air in them and you must bleed the brakes to purge the system of this air. If you do not get all the air out of the system, your brakes will feel "spongy" and may not work correctly.

Any time you do any work on your brake system that involves the hydraulic fluid (replacing calipers, master cylinder, changing brake lines) you will be introducing air into the system. The prudent course is to ALWAYS bleed the system. After all, the safety of you and your passengers depends on the cars ability to STOP. You don't want to be guessing about that.
