Switching out parts w/a rental

Hello everyone;

I was complaining today about the plastic piece around the shifter being scratched up, and someone overheard me and began to tell me how i should get a 04-05 Maxima rental, and swap out whatever parts i needed that wouldnt be obvious. While he was talking i was thinking how this dude is probably a criminal, but at the same time something like that never occurred to me.

Any thoughts?

even if your conscience didn't bother you, when you order this from the dealer, they swap out the entire box around it. and if you can pull that off, you'll scratch that one too

I would think that renting a max would be more expensive than the piece itself ... just go buy the piece...

I would not even mess with that idea. Just my 2 cents. Get a dash kit like I did and forget about scratches forever. That is how I solved it. Sure, the dealer will replace them with a bit of nagging....but after the warranty is up....they will still scratch.

PEOPLE PLEASE, no part is worth so much that one has to resort too stealing it. If YOU screw something up, let it be a lesson to you.

Be a man (woman)(adult) WORK, SAVE, and BUY a new one, maybe next time you'll learn to RESPECT it more...

By the way, if someone broke into your new ride and stole your shift cover and swapped it out for a $Hitty one, how would you feel. Think, Think, Think, Great, your right, it would be no different than stealing from the rental company, Bottom line, it's someone's property...

Have some honor...

I betcha you'd be hard pressed to find one in a rental thats in a condition which warrents swapping it out and all that crap...I mean those drivers dont care, most rentals have caked on pepsi all over the consoles. Keep lookin on ebay?
