Maxima Nav screen on ebay... question...

I found an auction for a Nav screen for the maxima on ebay....

Question is, can you hotswap the nav screen for a regular info screen and have all the functions work, minus the navigation itself? Anyone know? Im not so concerned about not actually having the navigation option, but would the screen work and all the normal car functions (temp, radio, info, etc) show up?

follow up question.. same person is selling the actual Nav unit, dvd player and everything... Can you install this to replace the standard non-nav screen and have it all work properly, including the navigation option? or are there other parts to it that have to also be installed for the nav to work? Where is the actual GPS tracker located, within these pieces? The auction is located at...

Those are the main 2 pieces. The reciever and all is part of the DVD unit I believe. You still need the GPS antenna also, which I believe is mounted in the dash like the headlight sensor. I'm not 100% positive though.

Anyways, dont forget you need a new bezel as well as the keypad with the extra buttons that is part of it also. This is also assuming that the non-nav equipped cars have the same harnesses and all, which if they dont, makes it an exponentially bigger job.

I think you would be better off with something like a street pilot or the like. I have nav in my maxima along with my F150 also (HK Traffic Pro), as well as having used several others. Frankly the Nissan unit isnt that great at all in comparison, probably the worst I have ever used. With something like the street pilot, you could easily move it from car to car, or just leave it at home when you dont need it too.

there was a number of posts here on the subject - putting the stock nav into a non-nav Maxima seems too difficult if not impassible according to some (nismomax). There was also talk about having to replace the windshield as a part of the ordeal as improbable as that sounds.

Replacing just the screen though sounds interesting - but I'm almost certain rewiring will be needed.
