Power outlet on shift bezel..anyone?

Brought my car in for some warranty stuff (glove-box allignment, shifter makin noise) and the service rep told me he was gonna replace the whole shift bezel..and he said that this item has been updated and it comes with a power outlet now, and that they would have to do some wiring.

Now I've got a 2004 SE, loaded..except the rear buckets...so I think I got most options covered...

Does the 2005 model come with that outlet in the bezel..or what is going on?

Thanks all,

Sparq

I remember reading they moved it on the 05 from the front "hidden" place on the 04's.....front right.

Thats cool hes doing that for you....if you have use for it. I think its in the top right corner, not sure though.

Yes, the outlet does come in the 2005 models. I have no idea why they want to add this feature. Your dealer must be nice. However, if they are replacing that bezel then they have to replace the whole center console lids because they are brushed aluminum for the 2005's. I think its odd that the dealer wants to willingly do this. THats great that he does, but it may be a hassle on your part especially if they are wiring and stuff.

SO do you have navigation too? If you have nav without bucket back seats that is strange too.

good luck

Wouldn't the new bezel mismatch with the rest of the trim in the car then? I'd be asking to either have the old style or all the trim replaced at the same time to match.

I do have Navi...I've got everything..except the bucket seats..and the rear shade...I thought it was stupid to pay extra AND lose a seat for two oversized cupholders.

Actually the trim in my car is the brushed aluminum-look-a-like plastic already...

Yeah..I really don't know why this service rep is so nice...even the window problem I had was probably caused by something the tinting place did...but he's covering it under warranty.
I feel like tipping the guy...but I don't know if thats acceptable...maybe he'll take it as an insult..you never know...

I'm not sure if I really NEED the outlet..but I guess I wouldn't mind having an extra one anyway!

Write a good review about him to the dealership owner and Service manager. It might help him on his appraisal.

he might need the outlet. i put another one in my max. the one in the console for the cell phone, the original one for the radar detector, the new one for the gps unit/pda, and can also charge the laptop there if i need to. you can never have too many outlets.

now the only problem...does anyone know how to make at least one outlet NOT turn off with the key off????

Yes the 2005 comes with an outlet in the top right corner of the bezel. My 2005 has it and it has a little rubber plug / cap that you remove to use the outlet. Most likely they might not have the previous design anymore and have to include it on your replacement part as it is standard in the 05 model. It could be handy for accesories that need power so you will like it.

yep, remove the power to it and attach it to a constant 12v wire... theres one on the radio but I dunno if you need to up the fuse on it to run the outlet....

Hey James,

What is that black circle/dot next to the red led light for the security system at the top of your dash? My 04 max doesn't have that and I was just wondering if that was a sensor for the auto on/off headlights.

that states if the pasenger air bag is on or off. Somewhere there is a sensor that states whether there is something/somebody (in the seat maybe) in the passenger seat and disarms the airbag if nobody is.

Thanks everyone...the info and the pics cleared it up..now I just have to wait for the dealer to call when they've got the part. I think they DID discontinue the old bezel..since the service rep told me that they updated that part in their system...

Thanks again,

Sparq.
